Redshirt supporters of ousted Premier Thaksin Shinawatra held a religious ceremony to remember their former leader on his 65th birthday anniversary at Imperial Latprao building Saturday morning, according to a Pheu Thai party member Singthong Buachum.
They offered alms to monks as a merit-making for the former premier with a birthday celebration party in the afternoon. They also hung up photo frames of Thaksin and his sister Ms Yingluck Shinawatra at the party, he said.
But soldiers entered the shopping complex at 1.30 p.m., ordered them to remove the photographs and cancel the party, he said.
He said the redshirts are those who work at the shopping complex.
