That is well said, and true.

And this society is changing. Example, Khon Kaen City is becoming rich. Bangkok loses market share.

Thaskin could have ruled for the benefit of a progressive Thai nation, and had a statue in Lumpini Park. Instead he tried to rule for the benefit of himself and/or his clan.

He is the sole cause of this latest intervention. He was out maneuvered and knows it, but still wants it all.
    And he won't be back.

    Too much division and opposition.

I appreciate the knowledgeable posters here who give insights. I know very little, but find this very interesting.

Things could remain in a gridlock-stalemate back and forth for many years, or it could burst.

    We'll observe and see.

I wouldn't say any redshirt response was necessary at the moment, Prayuth's junta seem to be doing a fine job of advertising themselves in international circles.

Maximum PR from that avenue first

I recall Karl Marx's observation that the rich did not mind the poor making money per say, but they weren't prepared to tolerate them making money at their expense.

This is a fair point. It does seem to be that there have been social changes, and the folks with the biggest chunks of pie will not move with those times if it means their pie getting smaller; that's normal social history and has happened the world over.

Oh, yes, yes, we all know the real battle - but that doesn't mean there isn't also a great opportunity to remake the foundation for regular people in the new context of a progressive nation. Surely there is no threat to that 'big battle, yet it seems to have become the achilles heal, a rallying call to both sides - one shouting buffalo the other shouting sakdina/amart oppressor
My mind is not for rent to any God or Government, There's no hope for your discontent - the changes are permanent!

That means some sacrifice by those who have profited off the backs of unfair wages, ridiculous tax breaks and a system in general designed to enrich them while fucking everyone else. You have a problem with that scenario?
Not at all, that is why I fully support the methods being used to rid the country of the influence of thaksin shinawat.

Have you been watching the thai news this evening, with the reports of his shareholdings, backhanders, recycling of dividends and offshore accounts relating to ptt. and its directors.
The general and his forensic accountants have hit the motherlode.

Sorry, I though this was a thread about Thailand and not the British bankers..
But I am glad to see you agree that the system needs to change

    Of course not.

Its all about knowing your limit. Thakin was too big for his boots, too greedy, wanted it all. He was the james bond villain, unacceptable. Now they are taking his empire to pieces. Right down to the roots. Surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. The lot.

Then, and only then can thailand move on, the other problems remain of course, but thats for another day.

What else did you expect, Tax? What's on the other stations? Right, there aren't any other stations.

Gentle nudge - Have a look at Wikileaks for an insightful review of reality. Thaksin is the more recent target in a series of evils to have hit Thailand since the early 1930's - communism, Thaksin, Red Shirts etc.

You know, when we point a finger at someone/something else - four fingers ends up pointing back at the real source of the trouble. Think a little more on the matter, before taking sides so readily.
