Nice earlier post, AO - this coup is certainly purposeful and well planned, but still it is affecting people more than just 'nothing to see here, normal in Thailand, everyone going about their business...'. This really is akin to poking a wasp's nest.
Cycling should be banned!!!
Our young cousin is serving in the army now. He is an Isaan boy to the core, quite impossible for him to kill his own people.
I don't know the composition of the Thai army but I am sure there are more than half a dozen Isaan lads in it. I cannot imagine the Yellows are pushing their own little Somchais into the services and there will come a time when the Thai army will face serious strain and, however tough their leader is, he cannot guarantee that all his men will stand by his side. To me this is a blessing as Prayuth is clearly an intelligent man. He will realise that there are limits to how much force he can use and I believe that this will lead to a mediated settlement and relatively early elections.
If this happens he will be able to retire as the hero who united his nation and his place in history will be assured for all the right reasons.
The alternative is too awful to contemplate.
I'm sure he'll change his mind when the bullets start whizzing past his head and he's lost a few mates.Originally Posted by can123

How can you say that ? Are you seriously suggesting that he would kill Isaan people simply because he had some mates in the army with whom he had shared a few beers ? He is just a young man who doesn't want to kill anybody but he has values and they would shine through. He's not on his own.
Because it's what most people do when bullets start whizzing past their head.Originally Posted by can123
Like I said, no offense meant.
Seems Prayuth doesn't like being asked questions, reporters were asked to attend a meeting and were asked to stop asking difficult questions regarding the coup
^you remember when Toksin had that problem with th BBC?
He made a little sign with a sort of red line, no entry look about it which he held up meaning he won't answer the question.
Classic.
