Universities instructed to ‘cooperate’ with junta’s orders, academics summoned by arm

Universities instructed to ‘cooperate’ with junta’s orders, academics summoned by army.
    Mon, 26/05/2014

Staff and lecturers in various universities in Chiang Mai, Mahasarakham, Ubon Ratchathani, and Phitsanulok provinces have been summoned by the Army following the military coup on May 22, and instructed to monitor and forbid any political activities creating “division” and “disrespect of law.”

After sporadic protests in Chiang Mai since the enactment of martial law on May 20, the northern region Army commander summoned representatives from primary schools, high schools and universities in Chiang Mai to clarify issues about the control of peace and order. He said the Chiang Mai area has been on a “watch list” because some people may not understand the reasons for the military’s takeover.

In the northeastern Mahasarakham University and Ubon Ratchathani University and in Naresuan University in northern Phitsanulok province, dozens of lecturers who have been vocal against the establishment have been summoned to the regional Internal Security Operations Commands to “tune in to understanding of the military’s rule.”

Previously the rectors of Naresuan and Mahasarakham Universities issued announcements asking for cooperation from their staff, lecturers and students not to “write placards, leaflets, and text on social media that would harm the national security” as ordered by the junta.

    They are armed and dangerous.

Army recover weapons cache from Primary school.

The army has uncovered what it believes to be a "significant" amount of what appear to be wax bullets.

Perhaps from the "Bloody Rainbows" movement.

Only the military junta is allowed to “disrespect of law.”

    So....
What's the difference between the respected university's manner of protocol and their conducting their business - from last month to today???

    None.

This story is rhetorical and rather moot.

Things haven't changed because of the junta.
Thai universities are quite well known for their suppressed [surface] manner.

I wonder if they'll get rid of the anti-coup farangs. There are plenty and they are easier to kick out of the kingdom. If the fanatics of Suthep's groups get any say a lot could change in Thailand.

...because some people may not understand the reasons for the military’s takeover.
Um...I'm quite sure that everyone, regardless of their political affilitation, opinion of the events that have transpired or their ideological stance (or nationality), know precisely the reasons for the military's takeover.

    Just aren't the official ones.

Thammasat has already bent over backwards on the co-operation issue. A seminar of all faculties from TU was planned to discuss "the Future of Thailand"

    Cancelled, now, of course
