Not looking to get better any time soon. Travel warnings must also scare away a few investors no doubt.

Travel advisories will have a serious effect on tourism since it is difficult to get travel insurance.

I see the UAE is on there so I guess Thaksin won't be heading here any time soon.

555, but Span and Greeze are on the list too.

This will be very bad for Thai tourism because just about everyone who lives in UAE and the rest of the Gulf go to Thailand for holidays. But then, the protesters on both sides have never been concerned about tourism.

The Australian keynote speaker for a Bangkok conference on Monday I was going to has just cancelled. Result- cancelled conference. My faculty has a three day international conference scheduled for JUly and I guess that is looking pretty shaky too. Really if you remember the airport in 2008 and then saw those photos of the blocked tollroad to Don Meauang and people having to cart their suitcases miles in 40 plus heat, why would you bother coming here?

Political crisis further dents prospects for Thai economy

Analysts have expressed little surprise at Ms Yingluck’s demise, with Deutsche Bank issuing a note describing the court verdict as an “anticlimax” that left the ruling Puea Thai party in control of government and the overall medium term country risk “essentially unchanged”.
“The next key step for further market upside, in our view, is a reasonably speedy timetable to new elections in which the opposition . . . Democrats participate,” Deutsche said.

Giving in to Suthep's anti-democracy will be the straw that broke the camel's back.

The problem is there appears to be little that anyone can do legally to prevent such a catastrophe...

Of course not. Being Thailand the thinking would be to increase the price because less seats are being filled.

Simply solved - avoid the big bad city.

    Nothing short of bollocks.
