I think the stats are flawed due to the fact that very many rapes in India go unreported for fear of social stigmatization.

This is what happens when you have a culture that favors male newborns over female ones. You end up with an unbalanced ratio of males to females and sexual desire runs rampant.

I wanted to focus on the issue at hand: India has very high rates of gang rape and murdering of young girls/women - it's horrific. Every one of these women are real people, they could be our daughters, sisters, etc. Their suffering needs to be highlighted and as much pressure as possible put on the authorities to deal with it, so that more young girls/women do not have to suffer these horrible crimes.
