At least 32 killed when bus falls from bridge into 50-metre ravine in Phetchabun
    December 27, 2013

At least 32 people were killed when a bus from Khon Kaen heading to Chiang Rai fell from a bride and plunged into a 50-metre ravine in Phetchabun late Thursday night, police and the transport minister said.

Pol Lt Col Surawit Chaisit of Banklang police station said the bus crashed into the guard rail of the Khun Pha Muang bridge, which is the bridge with the tallest supporting pillars in Thailand, and fell down.

He said the bus was carrying 40 people. He said 27 bodies were found in the bus and many more outside. So far, rescue workers retrieved 31 bodies were still searching the area.

Five severely injured were rushed to two hospitals and one of them died at a hospital.

Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt said in his Tweet message that the accident happened at 11 pm.

Only poor people take buses and in the land of slimes poor people count for zero.

Thailand needs a massive sea change in its society and politics, something that may happen within the next few years when you know who falls off his money tower and the rest of the clan get into a big shit fight with all the lesser piggies.

It'll get a lot worse before it gets better.

^I doubt he serves any realistic purpose if he's on twitter during a crisis like that

Collecting 20-50% of spending and distributing to appropriate lesser piggies.

Sounds quite a purposeful job to me.

Of course I know that nobody cares about any of those dead or injured passengers. Five families will now have to trade their daughters or sell their homes to pay those medical bills. I thought the bus company would....sorry...should.

That's one hell of a drop.
How did the coach manage to jump the guard rails.

A concrete road spanning a wooden frame? Surely not!

It's clearly wood. I bet the original budget covered for concrete but you know how it is in Thailand

The foundations in the ground most likely are concrete. Nothing wrong with wood, it's light and flexible, and outlasts concrete by centuries if protected against uv light, rain and termites. To build the bridge in shape of a bend, big mistake though.

I feel nothing for these accidents anymore. If people want to take the risk and ride them, then so be it!
