Thaksin bought the last election but the price was too high, it seems. His ghastly proxies can only dither, now they're faced with the consequences of his puerile economics so deeply flawed that even the lumpen mob now realise it.

The protesters currently congregating are there because of their disgust that they were so easily duped.

Abhisit et al have only to sit back and await the inevitable.

Yingluck and her gang will not escape so lightly. What they have stolen in the name of their puppeteer carries a price with it that even that mob will have to pay.

Still, it is nice to be vindicated.

That's all well & good but what about all the increased traffic due to Yingluck's 'misguided' policy of allowing every Somchai in Thailand to purchase a vehicle?

All looks very festive on TV, more like a parade than a protest.

I'm going down to Democracy Monument today to have a look see at the big party going on down there. There organization is mind boggling.

I was amongst them in 2010 when the last protests kicked off. Absolutely no problem being there whatsoever unless it kicks off with the cops and Army.

Then one would be a fool to mingle, get the fok out of there.

Actually I was on Khao San road as clouds of tear gas came wafting over and could hear the gun fire. Seen where the dead people fell .

Oh yes, it can very serious very quickly.

I was just told by my family that there will be one million people in the streets protesting today. Can anyone confirm that?

Just been told the same thing at work by our accountant. (Hope she is doing a bit better with the company figures..).

The "one million" figure seems very ambitious. Ironically this figure was banded about quite a bit by old Squarehead himself.

    Maybe some truth to it

The unrest threatens to increase instability that has caused global funds to pull a net $2.1 billion from Thai bonds and equities this month through Nov. 22, according to official data. The SET Index of stocks has fallen 6.7 percent in the past month, the most in Asia after the Philippines, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The baht fell 0.4 percent to 31.95 per dollar as of 9:31 a.m. in Bangkok and touched a 10-week low of 31.97 earlier.

Suvarnabhumi passengers told to arrive early
    November 25, 2013

Suvarnabhumi Airport issued an announcement Monday, urging passengers to arrive the airport earlier than usual, due to widespread protests.

"Given protests in Bangkok which could lead to traffic congestion in some areas, Suvarnabhumi Airport urges all passengers to arrive at the airport about 3 hours before departure time or use Airport Rail Link’s service," it said.

It also noted that due to protests, there is the insufficient number of taxi in the airport.

Actually the democrat propaganda machine was saying this morning that CNN said that 2 millions people attended the protest yesterday.

Within a couple of days it will be over but it's a good time to change money

I was down there this morning. What a mess! There certainly seems to be a lot of motivated folks there and many don't seem like Bangkok people. Many were young dark-skinned folks. They all had black tshirts on and seemed to be in groups as from the same village or wherever they came from. There were metal gates up all over the place. I was lucky to get through to where I was going but when I got there they told me everything was closed. The traffic all over the outskirst of that protest area was hell. Seemed like it when pretty far out into the burbs as well.

My bet is on Yingluck saying bye bye very soon. They've already called for an election (Yoop Sapa) right? But the they want her gone it seems. I bet some news comes out this evening or the big man comes out. There's just too many people on the streets down there.

    Sorry, I misunderstood.

The dems don't do elections, certainly not winning ones...

Actually, as Thai governments go, this one was going along just fine; corrupt and useless, but less corrupt and less useless than the dem installed or coup installed governments. Plus, it was elected and should be allowed to run its course.

The problem is, as ever, a certain group controls the judiciary, army, a large proportion of the senate and media. This is a minority group, but they have key and core powers. Until this group is eliminated, Thailand can never develop democratically. So, the dems bring folks from the South and certain groups from Bkk, they play the nationalism card, project in the mdeia, try to start violence then look for an army or judicial coup. Then they will appoint their own totally corrupt and useless government headed by the snake abhisit. When elections come, despite the extreme abuse of the election system by said group, they will lose, again, but they will not respect the electorate, and they will start the process again. These people are criminals of the highest order...

The black shirts they wear are an attempt to ignite the 'black shirt nationalism' that caused such violence and murder in the 70s... shameful...

Police still in control, not need help from troops yet: Peacekeeping Centre spokesman
    November 25, 2013

A total of 84 companies of policemen are still in control of the situation and police do not need help from the armed forces to deal with the protesters yet, the spokesman of the Peacekeeping Centre said Monday.

Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo, the spokesman of centre, told a press conference at 12:30 pm that the centre had also put on more police forces on standby in case of reinforcements needed.

He said Deputy Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Udom Raksiltham was assigned to talk to protesters, who were rallying in front of the Royal Thai Police headquarters.

Not sure how long it will last, but increased police training and ability to deal with these protests (from all political sides) is a real need (and they've had enough practice now), as it helps to keep the army out of the equation. The Thai army has developed to: 1) perform coups; 2) control the civil population - this is fundamentally wrong and must be stpped/broken.

Student network-led protesters stop confronting police, return to Nang Lerng
    November 25, 2013

Protesters led by the Students and People Network for Thailand's Reform called off their plan to push through police lines to the Government House and returned to their rally site at the Nang Lerng Intersection.

They stopped the confrontation with police at the Wat Benjamabophit Intersection at 2:30 pm after police put up concrete barriers and reinforced the barriers with barbed wires.

Half an hour earlier, the protesters removed the barbwires at the spot and advanced to police and almost clashed with them. Some protesters snatched shields of policemen and threw water bottles at them, prompting the officers to hide behind inmate trucks.

But the situation eased at 2:30 pm when police managed to restore the barriers.

Not according to the old guy who obviously hasn't noticed what's happen to the SET, and wouldn't in any case be able to figure out why.
