Massive 7.2 earthquake in Bohol Philippines

Massive extremely dangerous earthquake in Bohol, Philippines – At least 20 fatalities
Update 06:15 UTC : In Balilihan, the Bohol Mayor, Dominisio Chatto has confirmed that 5 people died from a landslide due to the earthquake. As said earlier, it is expected that around 10-20 fatalities due to shaking will occur, and based on historic events, at least the same with landslide deaths. This brings the death toll presuming no double counting to at least 25.
We are still waiting on more information from the Chocolate Hills region and Carmen.
Update 05:35 UTC : The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) in a press briefing said 33 others were reported injured during the earthqauke. The report said 19 people were injured in Mandaue City when a portion of the public market collapsed, six in Toledo City and eight in Pinamungahan were injured in a stampede.
Update 05:20 UTC : A new M5.2 aftershock struck the greater epicenter area. Based on the type of earthquake we expect only aftershocks greater than 5.5 to further damage the area.
We are much worried about the family there. They live in Tagbilaran less than 20 km from the epicentre of the quake.

Hope everyone's ok. Part of the Tagbilaran city hall collapsed, the docks got hit hard, and the airport closed, but, for a Filipino disaster, looks like little loss of life.

A lot of Churches from spanish times, over 400 years old, collapsed.

Here a before/after photo of the Loon, Bohol Church

Loboc, Bohol church. Both churches were tourist spots and national heritage.

I do wonder though why those churches are at the center of reporting. Is it really that those structures were especially vulnerable?

Received news from the family. A few things broken, but the house is firm and they are all safe.

    Power just came back on.

They will sleep outside because of aftershocks though.

    Thank you.

I am afraid the worst news about the scope of the disaster is still to come. So the death toll will keep rising. Tagbilaran was almost at the center of the quake and considered that with over 100.000 people it seems they have come of quite well. But there are smaller communities even closer and more bad news may come from there.

Even one of the Chocolate Hills came down.

I know there is nothing funny about this disaster, but I found this tweet.

The Earthquake they said was caused by the movement of Bohol's fault. I beg to disagree, it's a natural disaster, it's nobody's fault.
But anyway, english is not his first language and not knowing what a fault is in this context is not a major knowledge gap.
