UPDATE Phuket's Body in Bin Case: Expat's Trial for Murder Hears of Gruesome Discovery - Phuket Wan


PHUKET: Phuket expat Stein Havard Dockset appeared in Phuket Provincial Court today as his trial progressed for the murder of his former lover, Rungnapa ''June'' Ratchasombut.

Mr Dokset, 50, a Norwegian, was difficult to recognise as he emerged with other inmates from Phuket prison today. He was crop-headed and in prison garb, wearing shackles.



The remains of the vivacious Thai mother-of-three were found in a large wheeled rubbish bin in the large house at Kata that the couple once happily shared.

From the time that Khun June disappeared in mid-2009 until the discovery of what remained of her body in February, 2012, Mr Dokset continued to live in the house and denied all knowledge of her whereabouts.

From time to time, he moved the bin to a new location behind a different locked door, and the maid did not have a key.

Mr Dokset's trial on Phuket is unfolding slowly. Two police witnesses were due to give evidence today.

Sitting alongside a reporter in court today awaiting a start to the hearing, Mr Dokset - once a regular commenter on Phuketwan - found time to chat.

He said he had an infected leg wound that was not healing easily. When asked whether he had been to have hospital treatment, he said: ''You only get that if you are dying.''

[Phuketwan has recently seen a prisoner in shackles shuffling through Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment. Security became more intense after an escape attempt by a ''patient.'']

Mr Dokset said it was crowded inside Phuket Prison.

The number of people awaiting trial or sentencing on Phuket on drug offences boost inmate numbers to three times the amount the jail was built to hold.

When asked if everyone was nice to him, Mr Dokset said that although he was a nice man, everybody was not nice to him.

Somebody was trying to kill him, he said. But he declined to elaborate.

Mr Dokset maintained in conversation with Phuketwan's reporter that the death of Khun June was accidental.

He has previously said that he hid her body because of concerns that police would not treat her death as an accident.

Today the sole witness, Lieutenant Colonel Kittisak Wanpleum, told the court that on February 27 last year, investigators found what appeared to be human remains in a green ''wheelie'' bin in a toilet annexe at the Kata house.

The trial was adjourned until November 8. Mr Dokset is being held without bail.

Heard a lot of bad things about Phuket,but the local council failing to empty a wheelie bin for nearly 2 years,now that service stinks,wheelie bin service should be cleaned up. Remains to be seen.
