Russian Shot in Stomach While Riding in Car on Phuket - Phuket Wan



PHUKET: A Russian man was shot in the stomach while riding in the back seat of a car along Rawai beach road last night, police have been told.

Surgeons operated on the man at Phuket International Hospital in Phuket City overnight and he appears to be recovering because no vital organs were struck.



Investigations into the shooting are continuing, with a bullet hole plainly evident in the rear of a white Toyota Vios that had been hired by Maxim Gradnkov, 32, and two friends.

The friends told Tourist Police that they ended up a pizza dinner about 10pm last night in Rawai and were driving away when they noticed a couple of men weaving along the road on a motorcycle.

As they drove past the motorcycle, they heard what sounded like a shot. Soon after, Maxim, who was seated in the rear of the car, noticed he had been shot.

A police investigation is underway. The hole in the back of the car appears to be where the bullet exited.

and the entry hole?

was he shot from inside the car?

is that it on the boot lid?

maybe they mean "where the bullet entered".. and not exited...

he possibly had the bullet still in the stomach... or maybe stuck in the backseat...

the car needs an ENTRY hole...i would think...

yes, possibly another case of driver beeping the horn...

thats an EXIT hole ?

Looking at the deformation around the hole I suggest it is the entry hole.

Yep shot at through the open back window shooting back as they passed and the bullet passing through the victim, the rear seat and then out the trunk lid. The paint is chipping off in an outward direction and the edges are not smooth like they would be if it was an entrance hole, instead they're jagged and the surrounding metal is not indented inward..

Soon after, Maxim, who was seated in the rear of the car, noticed he had been shot.

"Noticed" he had been shot? Bit pissed was he?

open back window ,but surely in the rainy season it would be closed or the aircon on with it closed ?

its really somewhat weird, that someone shoots into the trunk and hits someone in the stomach...

All of these 'mafia' stories are discounted when it turns out they were 3 Russian doctors who hired a car that day, and had just finished a pizza supper.

PHUKET: Police believe the shooting of a Russian tourist on Saturday night (August 17) was the result of road rage.

Three Russian men – two tourists and the third a student at a dive centre in Phuket – rented a car from a shop on Saiyuan Rd about 7pm. They went from there to have dinner nearby, finishing about 10pm.

As they drove along the Rawai Beach road a motorbike with two Thai men aboard drew up close alongside. Although it is not clear why tempers were lost on either side, witnesses said both the car and the bike speeded up, both competing for road space, and both sounding their horns.

Finally, on Wiset Rd, the bike drew up alongside and the passenger pulled out a gun and fired a shot through the rear door, hitting Maksim Klochkov, 32, in the stomach. The bike then peeled off and escaped down Saiyuan Rd Soi 1.

Mr Klochkov is safe in hospital, a police spokesperson said, though he declined to say which hospital because of the victim’s fears of further violence.

Because the Russians were tourists and a student, investigators have ruled out a revenge hit or a business dispute, and believe road rage was the cause.

The two men on the motorbike have yet to be located.
