PHUKET: An Australian woman who crashed off Patong Hill road on Phuket this afternoon is being treated at Patong Hospital for injuries.

The woman, riding alone on a motorcycle with a male companion on a separate motorcycle behind her, somehow crashed off the road surface into the undergrowth.

She has been named as Elise J. Rowe, 26. Her friend was quickly on the scene and police arrived soon after.

Ms Rowe was treated for injuries to an ankle at Patong Hospital and was due to be transferred to the better equipped Bangkok Hospital Phuket in Phuket City.

She had been staying at a resort in Karon, south of Patong.

Patong Hill is notoriously difficult to negotiate but it has most often been buses that have run off the road in the past.

Why was the man following the woman ? Normally its the other way around

She lived so why is this news?Fuking aussies lol

Why do they say that the couple are on honeymoon but describe the male as a "companion" and a "friend"? Isn't the usual word for someone you've gone on honey moon with "husband"? Or am I missing something?

Just curious if there is some scam/backhander going on between local hospitals and say as an example Bangkok Hospital Phuket.

Why transfer to there? Even local hospitals have x-ray machines and doctors?
