The manager of the Poonpon Rd branch of the Bank of Ayudhya, Sophon Udomsap, called police after the two men, who had been discussing a debt in a 2nd floor room of the bank, began to argue fiercely, and then stared to fight.

By the time officers arrived the two were lying in a bloody heap on the floor of the room, dead.

Mr Sopon told police that Ponthakorn Teerabenjakul, 60, the owner of apartment in Thung Thong, had borrowed a large amount of money from Paiboon Weswanich-sanong, 71, putting up his apartment and land, valued at more than B30 million, as security against the loan.

Ponthakorn failed to repay the money so the two agreed to meet in the bank with the manager to discuss how the debt might be repaid. Paiboon brought with him two potential buyers of Ponthakorn's land

The discussions grew ever more heated until Ponthakorn pulled out a flick knife and began to stab Paiboon in the chest. The gravely wounded Paiboon managed to grab hold of the knife and stabbed his assailant in return until both collapsed, dying from loss of blood.

The bodies were sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital to await collection by relatives.

Phuket Murder Suicide Shock: Former Friends Are Killed Inside Phuket Bank
    By Sert Tongdee
    Thursday, June 6, 2013
PHUKET: A shocked Phuket bank manager looked on today as one customer stabbed another customer then killed himself with the same knife.

The murder-suicide took place in the conference room of the Krungsri Bank in Poonpol, Phuket City, soon after the three men kept their noon appointment.

First to die was Piboon Vachwanichsanong, 71, who owed money to the man who killed him.

Wielding the knife was Ponthakorn Treerabenjakul, 50, who had sought replayment of a loan to Khun Piboon.

Khun Piboon used the money to buy an apartment in the Ket Ho district of central Phuket about three years ago.

It's believed the money had been borrowed from the Krungsri Bank and then loaned on by Khun Pnthakorn to Khun Piboon.

But Khun Piboon stopped paying the money back about one year ago.

Today's meeting in the bank was to sort out the financial arrangements of both men.

But shocked bank manager Sopon Udomsub could only look on in horror when the meeting went wrong.

Khun Ponthakorn pulled a laerge knife and, according to an initial examination by forensic police, killed Khun Piboon with one strong blow to the chest then killed himself with a similar blow.

Photographs taken at the scene show both men lying side by side in a red pool of the blood of both men.

PHUKET: A real estate loan gone sour ended in the stabbing deaths of the borrower and the lender in the conference room of a bank in Phuket Town early this afternoon.

Police arrived at the scene to find both men dead from multiple stab wounds, one with the knife stuck in his chest.

Phonthakorn Teerabenjakul, 51, had borrowed 30.8 million baht from Piboon Vachwanichsanong, 71, using as collateral the title to a piece of land he owned on which an apartment building was being constructed, said Phuket City Police Superintendent Sermphan Sirikong.

“Mr Phonthakorn had agreed to pay back the loan on June 5, but was unable to do so,” Col Sermphan said. “The men had tried to reach an agreement already, but could not.”

They came to the bank to try again with the help of the bank manager.

“The plan was to sell the property to two women who were interested in buying it for 38 million baht,” Col Sermphan said.

Police believe that the conflict concerned the 7.2 million baht profit the sale would bring.

The two men, the buyers and Bank of Ayudhya branch manager Sophon Udomsab met at midday in the business loan section of the bank. Mr Phonthakorn and Mr Piboon negotiated, but couldn’t reach an agreement. Mr Sophon excused himself to let the two men continue their discussion.

“After Mr Sophon left the room, Mr Phonthakorn, who was very tense, jumped up with a knife in his hand and stabbed Mr Piboon,” said Col Sermphan. “When the two buyers saw what was happening, they ran for their lives.”

The meeting room had a glass wall, and staffers were outside, but police have struggled to find witnesses as everyone fled at the sight of the violence, said Col Sermphan.

Once it was quiet in the room, staff went back in and found both men lying face up on the floor in a pool of blood.

When police examined the bodies they found Mr Piboon with stab wounds in his neck and on his right leg, armpit and forearm.

Mr Phonthakorn had seven wounds on his body, and the knife he had attacked Mr Piboon with was stuck in his chest.

“There was no CCTV in the meeting room,” Col Sermphan said.

Police sent the two bodies to Vachira Hospital.

Sounds like your normal everyday bank transaction. The spectacle of couple of old guys stabbing each other to death would certainly beat the boredom of queuing.

You may need these 3 letters Charley, quite a lot on here
    (sic)
The Latin adverb sic ("thus"; in full: sic erat scriptum, "thus was it written") Added immediately after a quoted word or phrase (or a longer piece of text), indicates that the quotation has been transcribed exactly as found in the original source, complete with any erroneous spelling or other nonstandard presentation.

Can't see that solves anything. Now their heirs will have to sort it out. Obviously, if the one party can't repay the loan then they will have to sell their land to raise the funds.

A loan that was not repaid brought about the murder-suicide. Photo: Kritsada Mueanhawong

Phuket NEWS: Phuket bank stabbing witnesses confirm murder-suicide

PHUKET: The two women present in the Bank of Ayudhya meeting room yesterday when Phonthakorn Teerabenjakul, 51, pulled out a knife and stabbed Piboon Vachwanichsanong, 71, to death, watched as he then killed himself, police say (story here).

“The women saw the whole thing,” Phuket City Police Investigation Inspector Yongyuth Kongmalai told the Phuket Gazette today.

“They said there was no fight between the two men. Mr Phonthakorn pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr Piboon several times, and then stabbed himself several times,” Col Yongyuth said.

Mr Phonthakorn, a local real estate investor, had borrowed money from Mr Piboon, a well-known Phuket businessman and the treasurer of Tah Rue shrine, using a land title as collateral, said Col Yongyuth.

When Mr Phonthakorn was unable to repay the loan, the two had tried unsuccessfully to negotiate a settlement.

The murder-suicide occurred yesterday as they met with the branch manager Sophon Udomsab and two women who were interested in buying Mr Phonthakorn’s land.

Police have charged the dead Mr Phonthakorn for the murder of Mr Piboon.

“We don’t have the authority to cancel the case,” said Col Yongyuth.

“We are waiting to question the bank manager, relatives of both parties and other eye witnesses. We also need to wait for the medical examination report from Vachira Phuket Hospital before we can transfer the file to the prosecutor,” he said.

“The prosecutor has the authority to cancel the case, since the man charged for the murder is dead,” he added.

“Right now we are just focusing on the murder case. If our commander orders it, we can also investigate the details of the business deal. For now, that is not our responsibility and is left up to the two families to deal with themselves,” he said.

No Greed in this matter. Always the same, You are a great life saver when you make the loan but a real mean, uncaring person when THEY wont do what they said they would do. Try and be a landlord with a lease made by the state it was signed in.
Still you are the A..H. never fails,
