After the Thai International Airways flight carrying the officers and the man landed at Suvarnabhumi airport
in Bangkok on May 15, they discovered their connecting commercial flight to Germany had been
delayed by eight hours. They met with Thai security officials who took them to a transit hotel near the airport which did not require them to clear immigration.
"At about
4.30am on May 16, the German national used the shower facilities and that was the last sighting of him," an Australian Immigration spokeswoman told news.com.au.
The Australian immigration spokeswoman said Thai officials had informed the Australian Government the German man was later identified on CCTV leaving Bangkok Airport at
4am on May 17, just under 24 hours after his escape from the custody of the Australian officers.
...he stayed 24 hours in the airport - after been missing already...
