17-year-old girl arrested for pimping

Police arrested a 17-year-old mamasan and two young women in a sting operation in Lampang province on Sunday night.

Police said on Tuesday that they lured the mamasan to Rose-Inn Motel in Lampang's Muang district by posing as customers.

The arrest came after police received complaints that underage girls were roaming several neighbourhoods offering sexual services during the day and night.

Investigators discovered the mamasan's whereabouts and contacted her to meet with them at the motel.

The undercover officers handed 3,000 baht to her and after a while she returned with two women, aged 17 and 20. They each had one condom in their possession, police said.

The mamasan (whose name was withheld because she is a minor) admitted to police that she had connections to several groups of girls who wanted to make extra money.

She said she received a 500 baht commission for a 1,500 service. The girls get 1,000 baht from each payment.

She said she and the girls usually spent the money on clothes, makeup, phones and partying.
