A suspended sentence?????
For firing an illegal home made gun in a crowded public place, presumably with the intention of killing a rival gang member, but unfortunately killing an innocent bystander.

Surat Thani discuss banning guns from Koh Phangan
January 3, 2013 4:41 pm
Surat Thani authorities on Thursday held an urgent meeting to discuss the possibility of banning guns from Koh Phangan after a British man was caught in the crossfire between two groups of Thai men on New Year's day.
Stephen Ashton, 23, was shot in the side by a stray bullet as he and his friends celebrated the first day of 2013 on the island at about 5am. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Police have arrested Ekkaphan Kaewkla on charges of murder and being in possession of a gun. The suspect allegedly confessed that he fired his homemade gun killing Ashton accidentally, as he defended himself when a group of Thai men fired at him and his group.
Surat Thani Governor Chatpong Chataraputi chaired the meeting, putting forward the proposal that guns be banned from the island.
Ashton was the seventh Briton killed in Thailand since 2009.
As likely as banning somtam, silly amulets and hair gel.
Without his gun, knife and mates the average chickenhead, post adolescent soi dog, river rat or island mongrel is nothing more than a streak of paralysed piss posturing a putrid imbecility no more intellectual than a discarded bag of Mama noodles dipped in rancid puke.
Fuck 'em.
Ban legal guns, uh ok..... Now what about the illegal guns and home made guns which outnumber the legal ones?Quote:

^ Yeah, so why start a new thread on it?
You constantly criticise me for such things, but it seems it is perfectly acceptable if you do it................
Cops snub earlier victim

THE gun killing of Stephen Ashton comes after cops could not be bothered to probe the shooting of a fellow Brit at a party in the same Thai resort.
The previous victim — also from London — at first thought he had been hit in the leg by a firework. Medics later found a bullet — but police made it clear they were not interested in finding the gunman.
The Brit, 28, whose name was not revealed, tried to report it back in August but was told if he pursued the matter he faced a long costly stay in the country. It was kept out of the press — as was the stabbing of another Brit in May.
The July rape of two British women also failed to make the news, along with a rape in September.
British Ambassador Mark Kent said yesterday: “Most people have a very enjoyable trouble-free holiday — but there are risks. There have been incidents involving Western tourists in Koh Phangan.”

(ii) if he intended to kill somebody or cause serious injury to an individual, the charge would be murder even if the person killed was someone who had not been his intended victim.
On the limited evidence available here, he intended harm and I believe that he should be charged with murder.
You are very rude but I forgive you as it is clear that your rudeness is due to your ignorance.Quote:

UK ambassador, hoteliers mourn slain tourist

British Ambassador Mark Kent, Pha-ngan Hotel Association officials and other representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector yesterday laid a wreath in remembrance of Briton Stephen Ashton.
The young man was fatally struck by a stray bullet when a gunfight erupted during a New Year's countdown party on Pha-ngan Island in Surat Thani. The association also sent a condolence letter to the victim's family via the ambassador.
The association offered to follow up on developments in the case with police and take responsibility for the return of Ashton's body to the UK. The group called on security agencies to deploy weapons detectors and more security officers to prevent weapons being taken onto the island.
Crocodile tears :(Quote:
