Pattaya Sweet Dreaming German Has Rude Awakening

Sweet Dreaming German Has Rude Awakening

A 66-year-old German was drugged and robbed of cash worth 500,000 baht in his room at Sweet Dream Place near soi Buakhao.

He told police he had invited a Thai lady to his room, and she served him coffee that knocked him out. He was later found unconscious by a friend.

Both the lady and cash from his safe had vanished.

PATTAYA – October 28, 2012 [PDN]; at 3 a.m., a report of a foreigner being drugged and robbed was received by Pol. Lt. Kwanchai Numkanisorn, investigation officer on duty, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province. He rushed to inspect the scene with a detective police team.

The incident occurred at Sweet Dream Place, address 383/115 Soi beside Excite, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

Police arrived at the scene in room 212, and discovered the victim in a dazed and semi-conscious state. He was identified as Mr. Hartmut Lothof, age 66, nationality German. In his incoherent condition, the victim could not give any information so the officers sent him to be cured at Pattaya Memorial hospital.

Police inspected his room, which was in a state of disarray with his possessions scattered around. Police found a glass of orange juice left on the top of the bed, which they kept for evidence.

Police questioned the guesthouse cashier, Ms. Wilaiwan Chaiyapreuk, age 42, about the incident. She told police she saw Mr. Hartmut walk out of the place at 11 a.m. When he came back, he also brought a Thai woman with him. She later saw the woman leaving at about 3 p.m.

Later, a friend of Mr. Hartmut, identified as Mr. Michael Kaschpde, came to visit the victim at his room, and discovered Mr. Hartmut lying naked and unconscious on the bed. So Mr. Michael informed the apartment manager and notified the police.

After Mr. Hartmut was cured and regained consciousness, he came to see the police to give his testimony. Mr. Hartmut said he had left his room to exchange money at the Foreign Exchange booth in Soi Buakhao. On the way back to his room he met a Thai woman who was about 30-35 years old.

The woman began talking to him, so he persuaded her to come to his room. Then the woman made a cup of coffee for him to drink. But after he drank the coffee, he passed out and lay unconscious on his bed, until his visiting friend found him and assisted him.

After he later checked for his cash in the room safe, which was unlocked. Mr. Hartmut found that 12,000 in Euro dollars and 10,000 baht was missing. The total money stolen was equivalent to 500,000 THB.

The police inspected the incident scene in detail and made notes for evidence. They inspected the CCTV and saw footage of the woman Mr. Hartmut had brought to his room. The police will sketch a picture of this woman for the detective police team to rush to follow up and prosecute according to the law.

he was after some daytime delight, nothing wrong with that.

good luck to these old geezers who still have some ooomph in their zones of manhood.

but he really should have been more careful.

should have gone for a soapy titwank rather than bring some slapper back to his place.

Illiterate journalist. What are "euro dollars"? Are those like anything like "baht ringgit"?

Who in their right mind keeps 12k euros cash in a crappy "safe" in a cheap guesthouse in Soi Buakaow... and takes a hooker up there? That amount of cash is illegal to carry without declaring while entering/exiting most countries (though Thailand has a USD 20k limit). Banks exist for a reason.

sometimes people dont understand english and handling the room safes isnt always that easy...

    he met her "incidentially"...
maybe its a gang, hanging around the banks, knowing the foreigner coming out just withdrew or changed money...
and then sending him the girl in the way somewhere...

when thinking of the not-so-kidnapped german soccer player, who spend money like not even skippy (or so, the tattoo with the lambo), then one might wonder, if he had a similar fate, but was "too proud" to admit to it or to go to the police...
