Police raid illegal Don Muang clinics

Public health officials and police on Sunday raided four illegal medical clinics and arrested four suspects in Bangkok’s Don Muang district on Sunday.

The Sunday raid on the four unlicensed clinics – all located in the Si Kan subdistrict – was part of the Public Health Ministry’s crackdown on illegal medical operations in Bangkok, co-led by Pasit Sakdanarong, adviser to the public health minister, and Children and Women Protection Sub-division commander Wiwat Kamchamnarn.

The first two clinics, Si Kan Medical Clinic and Song Prapa Medical Clinic, were located on Song Prapa Road. The other two were Sirisook Medical Clinic situated on Pracha Uthit Road and Prom Medical Clinic on Wat Weruwanaram Road.

Police arrested four suspects, one of them a woman, for allegedly claiming to be physicians without permission and operating medical clinics without permission. They were Jirasit Vijitpat, Kwanlada Tangtongkham, Utcharin Soodkungwarn and Ubon Pimpapak.

Officials, who were acting on tip-offs from the public, found the third and fourth clinics were owned by the same person, Mr Pasit said.

The clinics breached Public Health Ministry regulations by selling pseudoephedrine and drugs that had a negative effect on the nervous system as well as fake medical certificates.

Some government officials were found to have bought medical certificates from these clinics, he said.

An inspection had found 70-80 clinics were operating illegally in Bangkok, he added.

They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

All right around the corner from me. Well 3 of four. Pass one everyday on the way to pick up the kids. The other two I pass at least twice a week. Very surprised no people were in them, or if that fact was overlooked. Doing a good business they were. "Gang" Karun Hosakul's district. What ever happened to him being disqualified anyway?
