German and Thai Girlfriend killed in early morning Central Pattaya road crash

18th October 2012

A German and his Thai Girlfriend were killed in an early morning road accident in Central Pattaya on Thursday.

Police and rescue services were called to the scene of the crash on Pattaya Second Road in front of the Hard Rock Hotel, just after 6.30am.

Lying across their mangled motorbike was the German, Mr. Kai Ivangean aged 33, who was reportedly driving the motorbike, along with Khun Jootatit aged 27 who was riding as passenger.

Witnesses saw the bike being driven at a high rate of speed and it was seen to collide with the read-end of a parked Toyota Minivan.

Inside the minivan was it’s driver, Khun Tanya aged 38 who claimed he was parked-up waiting for a customer who intended to travel to Bangkok, when the impact with the motorbike occurred.

He was detained as his minivan was judged to be parked illegally by Police.

Toxicology tests will form part of the post-mortem examination to determine if the German motorbike driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

For now, the investigation is ongoing in cooperation with the German Embassy in Bangkok.

Any couple who agree to be a couple are legit.

How the driver didn't see the van is anyone's guess, even if it wqs parked on the wrong side of the road.

Seems to me the German on the bike was careless if he was speeding. You have to expect the unexpected everywhere in Thailand but more so in a place like Pattaya. A little blame can be tossed towards all in this one. Blame the German and his girl, the van driver, the police for not enforcing laws, the Thai government for not making or enforcing laws, and the top of the power pyramid for keeping people stupid and apathetic towards all the problems in Thailand.

Sounds like a collection of unlucky circumstances leading to this deadly collision. I'd be surprised if alcohol has not claimed another two victims to add to its already huge death toll in Pattaya alone.

No I don't, the legal age of consent in Thailand is 15, but unrestricted age of consent is 18.

Where in the article about that couple does it say that they were having sex, anyway?

If you run into a parked mini bus at speed , you would go through the back window of the mini bus , or the bodies would land about 50 yards in front of the mini bus , not beside the mini bus where the motorbike hit , the only dent on the mini bus is where the bike hit , the scene has been altered .
