Pattaya Addict Nephew Kills His Uncle After Wife’s Arrest

Addict Nephew Kills His Uncle After Wife’s Arrest

A Pattaya man was shot and killed by his 20-year-old drug addict nephew, who believed his uncle was a police informant after the nephew’s wife was arrested for drug dealing. Three relatives saw the murder by the nephew, who fled on a motorbike.

PATTAYA – October 6, 2012 [PDN]: At 10:30 a.m., a report of a man being fatally shot was received by Pol. Maj. Pratipat Phumlee, investigation officer, Pattaya police station, Dongtarn curve sub-branch, Chonburi province. He rushed to inspect the scene with Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent, Pattaya police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Kiettisak Sathongoy, Deputy Superintendent; together with the detective police team and the rescue officer of Sawangboribul Pattaya foundation.

The fatal shooting occurred at a house at 192 Moo 11 Soi Jularat 5, cross street with Soi Thepprasit 7.

At the scene, police found a man’s body about 10 meters inside the fence around the house.

The victim was identified as Mr. Somyos or Eung Hongto, age 40, the owner of the house. He was lying in a pool of blood under a tree. Mr. Somyos had been shot three times, in his left wrist, right side of the body, and in his neck. Police did not find any spent bullet shells.

Police questioned an eyewitness, Mrs. Somkuan Malee, age 50, who is the aunt of the victim. She told police that the gunman was the nephew of Mr. Somyos.

The gunman was identified as Mr. Nad or Bung Nad Samansuan, age about 20, of Surin province.

At the time of the incident, Mrs. Somkuan had been standing outside in the yard to dry her shoes. Then she saw Mr. Somyos running alongside the fence of house. He was being chased by his nephew Mr. Nad, who was armed with a gun.

Then she saw Mr. Nad shoot his uncle twice, in the arm and body, until Mr. Somyos fell on the ground. Then Mr. Somyos then tried to creep along the ground to escape his murderous nephew. But Mr. Nad followed him and used his hand to push Mr. Somyos’ head and then shot him in the neck, which instantly killed his uncle.

Then Mr. Nad ran to his motorbike to escape. The murder was witnessed by Mrs. Somkuan and her niece and nephew, who all saw the shooting. News of the killing reached Mr. Somyos’ wife, Mrs. Suphannee Saengsakul, age 37.

When she arrived and saw the body of her husband, she began crying uncontrollably. When questioned by police, Mrs. Suphannee said that the killing may be drug related.

She explained that her husband had been arrested for selling amphetamines a long time ago, so he had quit dealing drugs. However, his nephew Mr. Nad, whom he had been really close to, was still using drugs, along with Mr. Nad’s wife.

But about three weeks ago, Mrs. Suphanee’s son was arrested for drug use, but had been bailed out of jail. This made Mr. Nad suspicious that her husband had become an informant for the police, in return for securing her son’s release from jail.

About three days ago, Mr. Nad’s wife was arrested for selling drugs, which made Mr. Nad believe that her husband had secretly informed the police to arrest Mr. Nad’s wife. So in revenge, Mr. Nad went gunning for his uncle. He had already previously tried to shoot him, but Mr. Somyos had escaped without injury. But today he was murdered by his drug-crazed nephew.

Police then mobilized forces to surround Mr. Nad’s house, which was only 80 meters from his uncle’s house. But police didn’t find anyone in the house, only documents and a photograph of Mr. Nad, which they kept for evidence.

Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong then commanded the detective police team to disperse forces to seal off the escape routes the defendant might use.

He warned officers to be aware that the defendant was armed and dangerous, as the commander sent the forces of his police team to chase the suspect to prosecute according to the law.
