Totally normal in Thailand to be granted bail whatever you have been charged with if you can stump up the readies.
Does that apply to convicted Murderers too?

Dirty Dog....the teacher in question scraped the car and got out to see what he had done, he tried apologising....and the perp attacked him. Now I dont know what kind of place you come from...or the morals of the place you live in....but in the civilised world, paint work on a car dont equate with the life of a fantastic teacher, wonderful son and a man who is the father of a little boy...your morals are skewed. A life is worth far more than any object.

This perp sounds like he is a complete shit. A bully boy who thinks that he has the right to do as he pleases. DD give your frigging head a shake This moran may have killed someone over scratched paint on a cheap car!

The operative word being "PRIVATE" insurance.

Your rant has absolutely nothing to do with whatever you said. You are mixing up apples and oranges, and simply spewing a rant.
How is that a rant, did you learn a new word? We don't have national health care, pay lower taxes because of that and buy our own insurance. Covering their citizens out of the Country could easily be done by the British Government if they wanted to, especially those on short term vacations.

Youre the one that's spewing crap.
short term vacation? he has been working in thailand for 7 years!

he wont be paying any UK tax so what has this got to do with the NHS treating him or being flown home at the UK taxpayers expense?

why should uk taxpayers be paying for him rather than his insurance company?
Don’t argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

^ weird way of thinking you have, BobR

I am sure the UK could cover anyone anywhere, at extra cost

as it is you have to buy private insurance if you leave the UK

Why was BobR suspended/banned? Did he also speak poorly of Pai or the murdering cop there? By the way, no one should ever, ever visit Pai - a dangerous and evil place.

I asked my insurance company about riding a bike on holiday in Thailand.
They told me I would have to have a UK bike license and it would cost an extra £15 per day to be covered.
I suppose that`s the reason most dont bother with insurance....?

Former Cathedral teacher left in coma by brutal Thai attacker returns home to Yorkshire
    03 August 2013

    Adam Pickles.

A teacher left in a coma after he was brutally assaulted in Thailand has returned to Yorkshire as his parents prepare to face his alleged attacker again in court.

Former Cathedral Academy teacher Adam Pickles has yet to wake more than a year after he was set upon in Pattaya, where he lived and taught English.

The father-of-one was transferred to Woodlands Respite Care Centre in York last Thursday to continue his rehabilitation after six months at the Royal Hospital for Neurodisability in London.

It means his parents, Adele and Andrew, of Leeds, and his fellow teachers from Wakefield can visit more often, which it is hoped will help to improve his responses.

Mr Pickles, 41, taught English at Cathedral Academy between 2001 and 2005 and has been supported by fellow teacher Dani Nicholls, of Wakefield.

She said: “I am really looking forward to seeing him again and it will good for us who live up north so we can visit him more regularly.

“Everyone at Cathedral is rooting for him and have been asking how he is getting on.

“Everything is still uncertain at the moment, but there are still small improvements, like him opening his eyes for a more significant amount of time.
“We just hope that he will pull through, never mind how long it takes, as it is very difficult to think of Adam like this as he was such a lively and active person.”

The Pickles will fly to Thailand later this month for the trial of Wolverhampton ex-pat Sean Henry Tinsley, who is accused of their son’s attempted murder.

They will also visit Adam’s son Ben, who lives with his mother Pafan, while they are there.

Fundraising towards legal costs and Adam’s care will continue when his father’s band, John’s Followers, reform after 45 years for a charity gig at in Keighley tomorrow.
