Canvey man dies almost a year after brutal attack in Thailand

A FATHER who was left with severe brain damage and in a coma after a brutal attack in Thailand has died.
Paul Ayling, who lived on Canvey for more than 30 years before emigrating to Hua Hin with his wife Justine and son Scott, died on Saturday.
He was attacked almost a year ago on November 21 2011 after dropping off his son, then aged nine, at school near their new home, and was pulling away on a motorbike when he was accosted by two men.
One of them hit Mr Ayling over the head with a lump of wood, sending him into a coma.

No-one was charged with the assault, but his family suspect the attackers were hired after he refused to pay decorators who worked on his home.
The family has so far been unhappy with the Thailand police investigation – when Mr Ayling’s brother Tony spoke to the Echo in April this year he feared powerful criminal forces were working against them..
His mother Anita said in an e-mail to the Echo the family is now planning to speak to Thai police again as they should be investigating the case as murder.
A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed Mr Ayling’s death but would not comment further.

If you make waves in a small puddle, which Hua Hin undoubtedly is, then I suppose it is only a matter of time something bad happens.
The victim had an altercation with another Brit on an earlier occasion. That may have sealed his fate when things got a tad sticky.
Certainly, it would explain why there has been no investigation by the police. The thinking that because the victim was a bit of a lout goes some way to explain why the BiB have dragged their heels but one can't help but feel the inertia stems from some farang who don't wish an investigation.
What folk consitently underestimate is the sheer number of farang scumbags, refugees from justice, gangsters salting away their ill gotten gains from drug dealing etc and their hangers on who have proliferated in Thailand.
It's a Costa del Sol scenario except the lads have all fetched up with hookers, bitches and slant-eyed sharks to warm their backs and quite a few have connections with the BiB who take a dividend from those proceeds from crime. Also explains why extraditions don't exactly figue large in the news. Which is quite surprising really, considering the money they have exported from their countries which is supposed to be quite a difficult thing to do. Unless of course, the police in the UK etc are bent, taken a bung and kept mum.
Ah well. The embassy boys know what's going on of course but then who cares what chocolate teapots and glass hammers think, eh?
Well put, thegent. I have a deal of sympathy for the close relatives and friends of Paul, seeing the length of time he was so poorly for. If it transpires he trod in the shit without reckoning on reprisal, then his lookout. A sad case.
