You should show some empathy for your fellow Brit, Tax, and not heap unwarranted opprobrium upon his shoulders.
my bile was more than justified. his disturbing post (now thankfully deleted) accused me of being the type of person who would masturbate into an old sock, a old sock for gods sake !!

used silk panties maybe, perhaps even with a slightly soiled gusset, but an old sock. never. never.

You seem to have some unusual visualization techniques when you think of others, Nidhog.

Having lived in Thailand for over 7 years pretty much germ free i contacted Hepatitis A 3 weeks ago.

I consider my personal hygiene to be above average for a farang but still failed to avoid the virus. Obviously never had it before following 55 years of residing in the UK.

As i can't recall licking any female bottoms recently and only eat cooked food at home i can only put it down to maybe picking it up from a restaurant where hygiene was not high on their list of priorities.

I got myself checked out at a local hospital as the symptoms for Hep A are identical to Liver Cancer. Unfortunately they dont test for the Hep A virus here as just about everyone of the natives gets it sooner or later. Hep B & C checks were clear as also was an Ultrasound scan of my liver. So by process of elimination Hep A was deemed the cause of my jaundice, lack of appetite, lethagy and dark coloured urine.

Improving somewhat now although having to abstain from beer for around 3 weeks has taken it's toll. The good thing is when i have fully recovered i believe i will become immune from the virus for life. Couldn't stand another few weeks without beer after all.

Ahhh, all is clear now. Wanking into a sock, you say? Well, nowt as queer as folk, eh?

The exudation of one's onanism into the receptacle of choice can be a bit tricky but if one was to be a tad adventurous I think I would be minded to choose a cocktail glass on the grounds collection might be assured whilst affording the opportunity of later inspection and admiration by others, depending upon inclination.

    Not the same thing.

Spraying a stream of water as you sit is guaranteed to spread the fecal material everywhere.

If, however, you 'wash it off properly' in a bathtub--well, that is a different story.

Spraying a stream of water on yourself as you sit on the toilet is dirty and unhygenic and contributes to the number one cause of disease transmission, which is called 'fecal-to-oral'.
Anyone who can laugh at this should rent a movie called 'The Human Centipede'. I see now there is a sequel, a part II. Often horrible but too damned funny to be really scary.........as long as you don't dream about it.

I think you have a slightly garbled understanding of Hep A infection.

It is a virus transmitted through the ingestion of miniscule amounts of faecal matter. The chances are you caught it from food prepared by someone who was infected. It could have been ice, salad or whatever but most certainly poor personal hygiene was at the root. There have been instances of folk contracting it by bathing in contaminated water or swimming, say, next to a sewage outfall but the likelihood is that it was from food. Rimming is another potential source and a sound reason for avoiding the back nine if one wants to avoid a bunker.

It takes up to 40 days to develop symptoms, so tracing the source is somewhat problematic.

The test for it is simple. There is actually no way of identifying the virus itself but when the body is invaded by the virus it produces antibodies specific to Hep A and it is the detection of these that is tested. The tests for Hep B & C were quite superfluous, as indeed was the liver scan.

There is no treatment for Hep A except the avoidance of fatty foods and alcohol which cannot be processed easily by the inflamed liver. Usually, the healthy body will not be rid of the virus until 2 months after symptoms have manifested themselves but up to 6 months to a year is not unknown. When the virus is beaten, the victorious antibodies flip into another type which provide you with lifelong immunity. There is a test for these which confirm you are no longer infected by the virus.

If you are concerned about your liver you can always ask for a liver function test but there isn't much point to this until after you are free from the virus.

Bogon in his earlier post mentions the subject of being a carrier etc but this is quite wrong and I suspect he has confused Hep A infection with Hep B.

In any event, to be on the safe side you should refrain from alcohol for at least 3 months and thereafter take it easy until you are pronounced free from the virus. The odd glass of wine won't kill you and may stop you from going mad.

^ Correct. I skimmed and misread the hep a bit.

    Hep b is a bastard.
Jaundice, liver failure, your piss looks like a colour that hasn't been invented yet, you scratch your whole body for no reason, sandy coloured poo, vomiting daily every evening for no reason, bloodshot eyes, no power, weekly bloodtests, total bedrest for 2 weeks. I am sure there were more symptoms, but I 'aint looking for sympathy!
    This I could handle.
NO alcohol for 6 months ripped my heart out.

    I lasted 16 weeks...

I agree with your more comprehensive explanation of the Hep A virus Gent and was merely trying to put across from previous posts that the lack of personal hygiene isn't necessarily linked to ones own and there are always risks attached to eating out here.

I am showing signs of recovery sooner than the anticipated 2 months + although i have to mention that my initial reaction to the symptoms were of shock when i found that i may have a serious liver complaint.

I have not experienced pain under the rib cage, nausea, fever, sore muscles, clay coloured stools or any particular weight loss.

I do still play the occasional game of golf as i'm just not the sort of guy that will stay at home and rest when i am quite capable of swinging a few clubs about. Lots of drinking water and vitamin B, 2, 6 and 12 (prescribed at the hospital) but as my intake of tuna, potatoes, eggs, energy drinks and bananas is quite regular i have refrained from ingesting the tablets.

The state hospital didn't test for Hep A but i was happy to know from the tests carried out that Hep B and C and possibly later stages of liver cancer were not present.

Maybe the subject of another thread really.

    Life is still good.

Thanks for your kind comments Nevets. I'm returning to the UK in around 4 weeks time and hope that by then i will be able to sup a few pints of real ale which i have missed so badly.

To be fair i don't drink alcohol that much, hardly ever at home in Thailand, just socially, apres golf etc: so dont really miss it that much.

My father is currently 87 and i'm hoping to be a chip off the old block

rule of law? due process? treatment programmes?

so how come he had 25 convictions for 44 offences?
why was he free to continue offending if there is law and due process in effect?

how come he was still assaulting people and causing disorder?
in the west, people like him laugh at the helpless victims of their behaviour.

here the victims fight back, if the law wont protect them then they must protect themselves, often with terrifying consequences, but as a regular to thailand he will have known that.

he was an out of control lout, who has never been punished properly for the havoc he had selfishly caused. fuelled by self administered alcohol or drugs, he brought the whole sorry mess down on himself.
    MORONS!
Your all so very quick to form your opinions & judge without actually knowing any true facts just what a couple of local newspapers print. Said newspapers had no actual contact with any of my family or the proper authorities. The comments made about my uncle in the article by his so called 'good friend' about how & why he came back & forth from Thailand is a person unknown to either any of my family or to any of Sean's actual friends, just someone crassly cashing in on our grief, as it happens he had a Thai Daughter he frequently visited. I believe this also quashes the racist remarks. The damn newspapers couldn't even get his age right. None of you know any actual facts. Finally got his comeuppance is that what your saying?? Whatever Sean did he certainly did not deserve to be murdered no matter who did it to him he did not deserve what he was put through. If you had read the autopsy report as i have you would all think a little differently.

That was a pretty shitty thing to say Angry Pirate, you toss pot.

Don't worry too much, Angry Family, as Mr. Pirate is probably a massively overweight, sexually deprived geezer sweating into his keyboard in his Redbull vest.
