For a country that's a total jerk fest of cultural symbolism and demands absolute obeisance to its value system (however ridiculous the rest of the world finds it all), they really are a bit ignorant about other cultures and values aren't they?

I wonder the reaction in Thailand if shops were selling flip flops in London with pictures if a certain minor deity printed on them?

Perhaps you are just ignorant of history?

The swastika (Sanskrit: स्वस्तिक) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) form in counterclockwise motion or its mirrored left-facing (卍) form in clockwise motion. Earliest archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization of Ancient India as well as Classical Antiquity. Swastikas have also been used in other various ancient civilizations around the world. It remains widely used in Indian religions, specifically in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, primarily as a tantric symbol to evoke 'shakti' or the sacred symbol of auspiciousness. The swastika is also a Chinese character used in East Asia representing eternity and Buddhism.

No, I'm not ignorant of history or the use of symbols. A black swastika on a white circle surrounded by a red field was the symbol of Nazi party.

I propose we strike a deal which is fair for all.

Israeli backpackers are the scum of the earth and thoroughly a despicable and unlikeable bunch.

We will ban the Hitler stuff as long as those tossers are banned from ever setting foot in Thailand again and that includes that whining crying bastard from the Embassy.

    Fair deal EH.

Another news (feel free to move it where you want) about how islam is slowly killing freedom of speech and our rights.

UK: Creator of children's character "Fireman Sam" detained at airport for noting that a veiled Muslim woman passed through security without showing her face - Jihad Watch

It probably was the same under the nazi era.

I'd wear the teletubby Hitler shirt.

Had a search online but can't find a seller for them. This Hut guy is missing out on a market.

    Good points.

Thais would go berserk and complain to high heaven if you did such a thing to one of their historic figures; if you did so in Thailand you'd be imprisoned...

It's funny, it makes him look ridiculous and it struck me that T-shirts of Hitler dressed up as a teletubby would be just about the last thing that Hitler or Nazi Germany would have wanted. He'd have been furious and would have tried to ban it!

It also struck me that if the Germans had had a sense of humour, Hitler would probably have never come to power. People as ridiculous as Hitler get the piss ripped out of them where I come from. He'd never get into power! And part of that is that nothing is sacred. We can make fun of anything we like and it keeps things in place. I don't even agree with any of those countries that have laws forbidding denial of the Holocaust. People can have silly opinions or try to and say them, even if they're wrong. It's up to the rest of us to rip the piss out of them for being so stupid...
