the stupid will never survive, in times past they would be unable to hunt food, these days they fall off motorbikes. let nature deal with them.
this is not eugenics or some mad hitlerian philosophy. its nature.

this woman was stupid, she and she alone put herself in the position she now finds herself in.

The more of them you hang the less there will be doing it. And as far as mules being poor and impoverished, there is easier and better paying crime out there.

Malaysia, another Muslim shithole with the usual Muslim approach to justice. Hang 'em, whip 'em, stone 'em. Our retarded Prophet said it, we believe it and that SETTLES it.

Stupid people, doing stupid things. The extremely harsh penalties are well-advertised. I don't believe her execution will have any impact on the drug trade at all, however, she took a shot, for little money, and lost. The big players will skate, as always, and the mules will swing. The Philippines has a huge campaign to educate possible mules as to the penalties they face, but they just keep on keeping on. Desperate people? There are other ways to make money. Greedy people looking for a quick windfall and figuring they will beat the odds? More likely. A harsh penalty? Indeed. Sympathy? Not much.

    Another sad tale.

Whether she knew the risks or not, ignorance is not a defence.

I could say the Malaysians are barbaric for such a penalty and disagree with it wholeheartedly. But it's their country and the law is clear on these matters if found guilty.

Maybe we could look at what drives people to take a chance and do this but that on its own is another can of worms.

This woman will pay the ultimate price for her actions, while her employers look for another mule.

Will this deter others? Highly doubtful. Not while there's poverty in the world.

there does appear to be at least one person on this forum - in fact considerably more than one, as nobody has so far pointed this out - that Malaysia hasn't executed anybody at all, for anything, since 2001. There's been a moratorium on executions in Malaysia in the eleven years since then.

just about par for the course for the all round level of cluelessness around here. Only Singapore and Vietnam carry out executions with any degree of regularity in the south east Asian region.

The old dodge that "it's their country and the law is clear" is the worst defense imaginable. It is the pathetic reliance on "diplomacy" that keeps such laws and attitudes alive. Western countries no longer speak out against injustice, because they are too busy trying to make friends with political criminals.

it's just another name to add to the 360 odd people on death row in Malaysia. But the sentence won't be carried out. In common with the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, and Thailand Malaysia just doesn't execute people the way they used to and you can call them up for talking bullshit when it comes up on the aircraft tanoy that THE DEATH PENALTY WILL BE IMPOSED ON DRUGS TRAFFICKERS. Because in practice, in most south east Asian countries, it isn't imposed at all.

I wasn't aware of that, thanks for pointing it out.
I am glad to hear it, getting hanged for smuggling a few hundred grams of Charlie is mental, no one deserves that.

Why this outpouring of support for the woman - and Jools - or Cujo - getting all anti-Muslim, even though the law has nothing to do with Sharia law but may as well rag in the Mussies.

She must have been well aware of the crime she was committing, how can she not have been.

Point is that it is a crime punishable by death, widely known and advertised. That it won\'t come to that is a good thing.

because she is little more than a sacrifice and her death won't change a thing whilst the real criminals remain free to carry on regardless .

    only crime is being 'caught'.

    the politicians and guess who
are some of the biggest criminals
and people look up to them
    unless they get caught out.

drugs can be a problem for many
so why do they do them, is the question.
alcohol is in here as well and nicotine.

Taking a step back from this a minute perhaps we should think about crime and punishment.

There was a time in England ( and probably elsewhere ) when stealing a loaf of bread brought the death penalty. Could we say of those times:

" Well they knew what the punishment was so they should have been smarter and not stolen "

Of course we can say that because its clearly true and should be bloody obvious !

But does that make the punishment appropriate for the crime ?

When you dish out the death sentance for a drug mule where do you go to for justice when you catch a homicidal paedophile or somone equally nausious ?

She is toast and for the most part , only has her self to blame, but its a pretty sad world we live in where murder is no worse than trafficing drugs. After all , isn't alchol just another drug , banned in some countries ?

We would all like to see the big fish fry, but as I have said before the Lawbreakers are far smarter than the Lawmakers and quite often they are one and the same.

No not just the mule.Publicly hang the top men.Don't be a soft cock and let them build their own prison resorts so they can come and go.As added bonus remove plea bargaining so they have no hope.

A very sad ending, for what was probably a tough life to begin with. It just seems that this focus on drug prevention has so many casualties beyond the impact of the drugs. I still vote to legalize most of those that are not such hard drugs!!!

Like I said before, I disagree with it wholeheartedly.

But who are we, the world police?

Every country has the right to determine their own legal system and implement laws as they see fit. You can argue all day whether drug trafficking merits the death penalty, I personally believe it doesn't, some countries do and use it as a deterrent.

Does it work? Obviously not. It's their right to decide though.
