Extension Non immigrant visa O Thai wife

    Hello,

I got the 25 November 2011 a simple entry non-immigrant O visa to Laos because i have Thai spouse. My visa is valid until 22 February 2012 but i plan to go to Spain the 17 January to 16 February. I asked to the office immigration in Krabi how to do and they told me it’s not a problem because i can come to their office before the end of my visa when i go back from my country and then i can apply for a non-immigrant O visa to get a one year extension. But i’m a bit suspicious about their poor explanations because my simple entry will be used after i will be back to Thailand so maybe they won’t let me get the extension visa. What do you think please. Can i get a 1 year extension visa (Non-immigrant O) with a visa on arrival ? Do you think i should apply for the 1 year extension before to leave the country ?

    Thanks for your advice

You have to apply before you leave Thailand and also get a re-entry permit.

What visa on arrival? Are you a Pakistani or Indian or some other 3rd world country citizen?

I presume you mean Thailand, not Laos.

Apply for a year extension of stay (not a visa) whilst you are still in Thailand on your Non Imm O.

A visa cannot be extended, your permission to stay can be extended.
You can extend your permission to stay for one year at an immigration office in Thailand if you qualify

Not 100% up with all this but ......I assume you have a Non Immigrant O Visa and have paid for multiple entry which your advice seems correct.
Other wise, without the multiple entry, once you leave Thailand you have to go thru the whole process again???

Other TD'ers, please correct me if I'm wrong

I would say he got a single entry visa and thinks single is spelt simple, also he mentions Laos, so pretty sure its a single entry cos thats all anybody gets in Laos on Non Imm.

Are you sure i can apply for extension based on mariage more than one month before the end of my non-immigrant O visa ? If they refuse i can get a re-entry permit for this visa and when i come back from Spain so 5 days before the end of it i try to get the 1 year extension ?

    Thanks again

If you are going abroad then Immigration will usually waive the 30 day rule and accept your application early.
You just have to grovel and ask nicely.

Do you fulfill all the other requirements for a 1 year extension?
