Thailand : Immigration Bureau to move to new location

Immigration Bureau to move to new location
    Mayuree Sukyingcharoenwong
    Fri, September 11, 2009

The Immigration Bureau will move from its Soi Suan Phlu office to new offices in the new Government Office Centre on Chaeng Wattana Road this month, a senior immigration officer said Friday.

The new office is situated on the second floor of Building B of New Government Centre, which is in the same complex as the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It will be fully open for service on September 28, Pol Lt Col Uraiwan Harnpradit said, adding the Bureau will continue to provide services at the Suan Phlu Office until September 25.

The move was due to the limited area for services and parking, which is insufficient to meet the needs of an ever increasing number of visitors.

The new office will be more convenient, she said.

Immigration services for alien workers from Burma, Cambodia and Laos will remain at Suan Phlu office, she added.

it is going to be a head fcuk for falangs - unless they are savvy enough to catch the skytrain to moreshit and then bus 52 ( non aircond ) which goes up vipahvadi and then down cheang wattana road.

another option would be victory monument , then catch the air cond 166 or mini bus up the tollway to cheang wattana and then catch the 52 or 356 on the other side of the road down to the Govt buildings

been waiting a year for this move and now it is a week after I have to go and see them
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

I was told this by one of the girls working there early last year: she thought the move was 12 months ago. Must have been some big delay with something but I just msn her and she said she moves there on the 30th.

Difficult to get to for some but there should be more parking space.

Or conversely you could take the skytrain to Mochit and spring for a 50 baht taxi ride to Chaeng Wattana...

Could it be that the recent government issues delayed the process?? Hell they couldn't even occupy their own Government house and airport this time last year ...

But it's all good for me... right close by now..

That's funny, never cost me more than 150 from Don Muang to Mo chit and that's further than Cheang Wattana by some distance and never paid a toll taking Viphavadi either it's not far enough to take the tollway as far as I'm concerned and the taxi fare bares that out..
As well when you factor the time waiting for buses making transfers, the inconvenience and discomfort factor etc. it's not worth it to take anything else but a taxi for that distance especially for all you well off retirees and others..

eh ? I am just posting the cost. Considering it costs me 110-120 baht to get from cheang wattana road to either the skytrain or the subway.

I am happy with the change as it means it is a lot easier for me if I have to go to immigration after the 30th.
