Maybe the government doesn't share your views. Outside a few ghettos, I suspect that the financial influence of those who are staying long-term and who aren't working legally, retired, or on marriage visas is minimal.

as was said, tourists very rarely stay that long. However, if you can satisfy the immigration officer that you want to stay longer, without working, then he would probably give you another 60 day visa

Calling me early retired or long staying tourist does not make any difference, the fact simply is I do not work here yet I spend here my living money and really can't see any reason why Thai Immigration should kick me out . There is no "proper visa" for under 50 years old like me apart the tourist one.

https://teakdoor.com/the-teakdoor-lou...ml#post1139936You've changed your tune haven't you.
I can't see any change. At first I feared I could not be allowed to stay and therefore avoided big expenses (like a car or a plasma TV) and now my fears have become true.
Indeed I was spot on and avoided wasting money.
I live in an owned studio paid 700,000 baht back in 2003 . I did not move to an expensive condo because I thought it might not be worth the expense and I proved myself right.

    DO I SHAG HER?,
I would have to put some rebar down the japs eye, so i think not to bother would be a better option.

Obviously, this won't effect real tourists much. This is aimed at those people who want to hang out in Thailand for an indefinate period and have been using back to back tourist visas to do so. Prior to this we had the 1 month visa run people who just slipped over the border to Cambodia once a month rather than fly home for a Non Immo.
The concern here is the general trend in tightening up of immigration laws . The thinning out of the ex pat population by a cull of those who have not applied to be here a long time but have no definate plan to leave. The worry is that if all these people now go and apply for a Non Immigrant visa it won't be long before places like the Hull Consulate will start getting very busy. From this, how long will it be before someone with an easily obtained Non Immo stabs his girlfriend in Pattaya or something equally improbable ( but inevitable ) leading to a ' crackdown ' on Non Immigrant visas.
Those that survive all this will start looking at getting married to some old bat just to get a marriage visa. And then ......... well you know the rest.

It's not my fault if Thais are less evoluted compared to the other races. Actually that's one more reason not to cast away my money , as their racial inferiority is a serious handicap in competing for exports in the global market.

Sanctimonious dribble. Both I and my friend are long term tourists, spending up to 6 months in Thailand in a year. I would say I am an average tourist and spend about 5000thb a day.

I'm not so sure. The surrounding countries seem to be enjoying boom times in tourist numbers yet Thailand is really struggling.
At the very least it is another contributing factor to keep tourists away.

I won't be bothering to come back as I have already stated but it is clear to me in both this legislation and the attitude of the Thais that I am no longer welcome here. My money will be well spent elsewhere next year.

true, the Thais don't want people misusing the visa system

I am sure Cambodia and the Philippines will eventually do similar things

Problem is, the authorities do not understand how anyone under 50 can come to Thailand for 6 months without doing something illegal
