If they were asking about "O-A" visa for purposes of retirement then they would be obligated to show income.

^ I think you're right there Norts. They mentioned the 800,000 baht thats mentioned on the doc you linked to.

I'll pop over and see him in the morning and tell him for gods sake dont mention retirement O-A. Theres no need for the 800,000 when you can get an O for zero baht in the bank.

Hopefully this thread might serve a purpose for others who find themselves in the same boat.

Perth was great "Yvonne" was extremely helpful! Just be honest with her and she will give you the best solution in return.
One problem though, you mention your friends are from QLD? they can only issue to people living in that state. There is again of course ways around this as MM found - he just used my address

Perhaps ring Yvonne first and have a chat before booking a whole heap of flights, but make sure you have you WA address sorted first incase she wants any details.

    Good Luck.

As I explained in an earlier post, Honorary Consulates have different rules.

Hull, Brisbane, Perth and Houston in the US are all Honorary Consulates therefore easier to obtain Non-Immigrant visas than other embassies and consulates around the World and they still issue Non-Immigrant multi-entry one year visas which other places no longer issue.

Brisbane will only issue Non-Immigrant visas to Australian, British and American passport holders however and I have had one 6 times in a row without problems so far. I also mail my passport from Melbourne up to Brissy and never been a problem.

Brisbane is the go, especially if they are from there! Absolutely pointless going to Perth.

If they are returning to Australia once a year they will be going home to Brissy so makes sense to use the Brisbane Consulate.

With a OA retirement you do not need 800000 in the bank just show some type of pension with at least 65000 income per month, and you only need to show for one person as the wife will piggyback on the husband............Its damn easy and your good for a year without the visa runs. Extensions are also easy and once again no money in the Thai bank.
