    Little advice?

I need to leave the US for tax purposes for 4 months and I would like to stay in Thailand. I have heard that the cambodia border runs are out. Is that true? I do not have any visa and I am currently in the US. Can I get some advice?

    Your questions are answered here.
Although you can only do this for 90 days out of every 180 days.

You got to get a visa, maybe a tourist visa from Vientiane or Penang.

You probably wont be able to get a visa for 4 months, come in on the 30 day thing, then go to Vientiane and get a tourist visa, that gives you 60 days plus an option to extend for another 30 days at 1,900baht.

I Will give that a try. I will come in on the thirty day visa. Before expiration I will go to Vientiane and get a tourist visa. And then I will have the option to extend for thirty days hopefully. And if it does not work where would a good place to stay for a month?

Get a one year multi entry tourist Visa. You can get them only at the Thai consulate in Texas. Its a loop hole, but you can get it.

DD I was reading one of your other posts explaining Visa's and I had seen the part about 90 day stays within a 6 month period. I have already been in thailand for thirty days in this 6 month period is that going to affect what we are talking about? And what are the fee's associted with said tourist visa?

It will work. If you have the money and fancy a change try Sihanoukville in Cambodia for a month. Nice relaxed place and pretty cheap as well.

OP just go to a Thai consulate and get a normal tourist visa, can be extended when you get here. Why dick around with visa runs etc.?

1,000baht per entry for a tourist visa from Vientiane, and yes those 30 days would count towards your next lot.

I heard last week that you need to have proof of where you live in Thailand to get a double entry tourist visa in Vientiane now, got to admit i didn't think of asking when I was there earlier this week.

OK I have been in thailand for thirty days in this six motnh period I go back to thailand get another entry stamp for thirty days that puts me on sixty days this six month period. Then upon or just prior too the expiration of that stamp I go to Vientiane and get a tourist visa for sixty days. Which I can go back upon expiration or just prior too and renew for another thirty days for 1,900 no problem. Ok if this will work great. But if it does not work anyone got some ideas about where I can stay up to 1 or 2 months that isnt to bad in Cambodia or Loas?

^No idea on that, first i've heard of it, i always thought 'proof' of where you live was just filling in the bit that says 'address in Thailand'.

^If that's what they are now doing without making any announcement, unless it was another of those unpublisised laws already in existence that no fooker knows about, i can see a lot of pissed off farangs at Vientiane when they realise they've just made a wasted trip.

^That will work, but if you want somewhere just to chill out for a month or two outside of Thailand, try Sihanookville (spelling) in Cambodia.

DD my op was about staying in Thailand for 4 month in which case you told me my best bet was off to Vientiane for a tourist visa. I took the last link for a little info and it says not many people going there because they are so strict. So should I still gp tp Laos or should I try somwhere else?
