Accepting the fact that when dealing with any government agency here may require some greasing of the skids is key. Law firms, agents, representatives et al abound to "expedite" government transactions. Like any enterprise, immigration agents vary in quality and the amount of required docs they actually prepare for you but their primary function is to act as the middle man to pass on tea money.

In your case, continue without an agent and after much frustration and time you will likely get your visa but even though you have all the required documents, an agent is the way to go mate.

Many thanks to those who have replied with advice and observation. Very much appreciated.
After careful consideration, and serious discussions with SWMBO, I will be applying for an extension to my Non-Immigrant O Visa (Retirement) in mid December rather than pursuing an extension based on Marriage.
There is a back story to this decision. It relates to the Non-Imm O visa Marriage extension requirement that involves a visit by Immigration Police to interview local government officials (Obotor) and the village chief. If anyone has been following my TD posts on an Aussie Build in Thailand you may recall the Water Buffalo Wars and the role the village chief is playing in these. Needless to say any interview he had would be less then complimentary of Yuri and I. So we will wait for him to retire next October and apply then.
Once again many thanks for your time and valuable advice.

Probably a wise move at this juncture. I just started gathering up my annual information required. Wife and I snapped a few pics around the house. Our process has been a very easy painless one with no tea money required. The only thing that is bothersome is sitting at immigration and having to sign all pages on the application for extension. I asked last year, " Can I have a rubber stamp made with my signature". They didn't say no but didn't say yes, just laughed.

It's too bad the process is so cumbersome and varies from immigration offices. I guess they keep it this way to keep the riff raff out but they could definitely improve on it, especially the marriage extension.
