having been blown away by the overwhelming response to this question I shall pose another:
I may opt for the TV run in Phnom Penh but just had a friend tell me today that they are turning people away at the Thai embassy there for this request - any one else had this problem?
don't all shout at once
You should be ok in Singapore, but will probably have problems in Phnom Penh, as they consider the embassy there to be for Cambodians only.
what a load of nonsense this old visa run game is - apparently they were asking for flights and dates of leaving Thailand even with TV (in PP this is).
don't mind a trip to Singapore - maybe just do a 30 day job there
CE: I used to do this back in the days when Kiwis got a 3 month TV..used to fly down and back in the same day with Finn Air...3600 baht return (a long time ago!)...
didn't need to visit an embassy of course but it was always a nice day out...
sorry this does not answer your question but you look a bit lonely with no answers to your posts...
cheapest flight I've found so far for Singapore is 6k plus - hardly worth it for a 30 day visa (though I've never been there before and would like to check it out)
it's a toss up between the two places really
have you tried Air Asia?
yes - AirAsia was about 5K to Phnom Penh and 6K for Singapore (returns with tax)
Singapore it is then - bought ticket today - 7k return with tax etc.
I'll do some photos this time.
let's hope they give me a TV there.
If I had an option I would not go to Phnom Penh for a visa anymore. They seem to give visas only to Thais in the meantime...to put it this way... But as always - you might have luck and just get a stamp "Do not apply new visa at Phnom Phen again". I was told that this is for the rest of my/or the life of the ambassador. I did not do anything bad and provided a lot of bank statements. Hard to believe but this stamp is fact. I am afraid that the Thailand idea is soon history. But there are still many options around this country!!! Just a simple move and even cheaper. But avoid the Philippines - lived there 3 years. There are raping laws you do not know and will not forget. And there is no way out if ANYBODY points the finger on you. In the best case you get life in prison. I have studied about 80 raping cases... The supreme court says: "As long as the statement of the victim is believable any alibi does not count." And any alibi means any alibi even if you could prove that you are a women. So stay away from this country or read at least the local newspapers every day.
^wasn't planning on moving to The Phillipines (spent 6 months there in the '80's though -fun) but am thinking of moving to Cambodia in July this year.
so I just need another 6 months worth of visas for Thailand to see me through (already have about 8 in my passport) - let's hope Singapore is straightforward as it looks like it's going to be costly.
when are you coming over?
^do you mean to Singapore?
I am going there beginning of Feb. for 4 days.
