The Tourist Visa vs My Time Frame

I have a roundtrip ticket from July 2nd until September 15th(around 60 days). I understand if the Thai Embassy in Washington gran ts me that visa, I will have a maximum of 60 days. I can visit Immigration in Jomtien at least two weeks before the 60 days are up and extend my visit for up to 30 days for 1,900 baht. Is that correct?

Should be. Just to note, if you married to a Thai, you can get a 60 day extension for the same price, and at any point after you arrive, the 60 days will start on the date of the permission of temporary stay stamp, and not the day of application. You can get it the day after you arrive.
