Entering Thailand on new passport with rentry stamp in old passport

Has anyone recently entered Thailand with a new passport with your rentry stamp in the old passport.

A friend will be returning to Thailand with a new passport obtained in the US. His old passport will no longer be valid with a hole punched in it. His concern is upon entry at Suvarnabhumi will the reentry stamp in the old passport be honored and entry allowed.

Once in, no problem to go to immigration office and have his Immigrant O visa stamp transferred to new passport.

Bring both passports, but immigration will have a record of the re entry permission on their system anyway.

Cant see it being a problem Norts. The last two times to the states my wife's US visa has been in an expired Thai passport. Nary a problem one. She simply presents both.

I haven't entered Thailand with an entry stamp on an expired passport but I have with a multiple entry Non O in an expired passport. I just presented both passports, old with visa and new, and no problem.
