Last week I arrived in Thailand and everything went smoothly at the immigration desk.

Gave the immigration officer my e-Visa, passport and the flight ticket of the last leg but held off on giving him my insurance document/s.

After reviewing my e-Visa, passport and flight ticket he set the date on the stamp and requested I look into the camera while he scanned my fingerprints.

Just before he stamped my passport a light must of went on.

Where’s your insurance documents?, he asked.

Thought maybe immigration would stop asking for proof because we are required to show proof to get the e-Visa.

    Still stands.......

Last year’s attempt didn’t go well. This year, will hopefully go better.

Started early. Wanted to get the O-X insurance while in Thailand.

It was a pain last year trying to correspond with companies when there was a time difference of 12 hours.

Out of the 7 listed companies which the Embassy lists as O-X insurance providers, only 4 will actually sell a policy.

^ I’ve just renewed my health insurance for visa renewal at the end of this month. AXA is the insurer I used. They are good because you can buy the insurance from outside the country and they issue the certificate you need for the EVisa online immediately.

Costs depend on age. You can find out here.

Age is a factor. But I’ll tell you, it starts off expensive and only get more expensive.

Last week I used the O-X Visa for the first time. Everything went smoothly.

The immigration officer did ask for my insurance information and after viewing it she gave me a stamp for 5 years. She only had a couple questions,Â…Â…..Did I have an O-X Visa once before and did I have an O-A before. I answered yes to both. She could see the stamps in my Passport.

Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited is the Thai insurance company that provides me coverage.

Getting the coverage was a learning experience. Whatshername spoke to all 7 insurance companies while in Thailand.

From the Thai Embassy in WashingtonÂ…Â….

The applicants must submit the following:

    • Health insurance policy document issued by a Thai insurance company only, stating that the applicant is medically insured for the period and with coverage as mentioned above:
The applicant must submit the insurance policy document or, if available, the original insurance policy document. A list of Thai insurance companies participating in the scheme can be found here:
http://longstay.tgia.org (**Per the regulation for an O-X visa, the applicant must have a Thai Insurance Company in order to obtain this visa, the Insurance coverage from the foreign insurance company is not suffice)

If you click the link above, youÂ’ll see 7 different Thai Insurance companies. Only one will write a policy that meets the requirements to satisfy the Thai E-Visa team for an O-X Visa.

Coverage for me for one year (healthy). Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited - Premium price: 120,920 THB
