Entering Thailand with new passport and old with visa stamps

Recieved a new passport in US.
Have the new passport and the old one with long stay visa in it. Old passport has a punched hole in it.
Have a letter from US passport agency authorizing use of new passport.
To get the long stay visa transferred to new, I have to go to a Thai immigration office in Thailand.

Has anyone experienced the same situation and if so were you able to enter Thailand?

Concern is I don't want to arrive Thailand and be refused entry via the long stay visa.

No issue, and very common for every foreigner that lives here for a long period of time.

Present both passports to the immigration officer, they will put a full page ink stamp in the first page of the new passport, and then write in the visa details from the previous one. Stamped in, probably 5 minutes.

If it makes you feel better my wife has entered the US the last two times on a new Thai passport but her 10 year visa in an old passport. Seems to be pretty common nowadays..

Very topical for me at the moment as my passport expires in September but I am applying for a 12 month retirement visa at the end of this month.

If you do it here no prob. You will get new passport and old back in mail along with a letter from US Embassy authorizing Thia Immigration to put visa stamps in new passport. Then off to local immigration. Job done.

Yes. No prob as the US does not require new Thai passports have visas moved from old to new.
