Immigration changes from July 2022 - for the good!

Coming into Thailand has gotten much easier from July 1st.

No more landing cards. No paperwork at all for 30 days (visa waver.) No questions, either.

Step up to the immigration officer with passport and boarding card. Get fingerprinted. Get a stamp in passport. Out of there.

    I’m back!

What kind of visa are you on, if you don't mind asking?

Great that all the nonsense has been done away with. I arrive in Bangkok on 13th and will be in Chiang Mai from 17th for a few days.

I would visit Harry and Cyrille but am unsure of the nursing home they are residing in.

Topper, I’m here on a visa waver. I didn’t get my O-A E-visa on time. The consulate in LA seems to be totally swamped with requests for visas.

The plan is to pop out to Penang or Singapore and come back in with the O-A visa when it arrives.

Which reminds me. Immigration didn’t even ask for my onward flight information. That has also gone out the window.

Welcome back to LOS misskit . We were away for over two years caught up in the US with all this covid nonsense before we came back, so I know how exciting it is to finally get back.
Where are you heading for after Bangkok ?

You can apply for a 12 month extension based on retirement while here on a visa exempt stamp.

"The foreigner on a visa exemption stamp or a tourist visa can still apply for a retirement visa given that the foreigner has already met the requirements for the non-immigrant O visa and for the one year extension visa applications. This can be done at the immigration office in Thailand."

^Needs to get that non-imm O visa first in CM, unless it's changed in the last few months.

Yeah, was going off the rulebook rather than real life.

Should be able to convert the visa exemption stamp to a Non-O in country, then extend.

Of course nothing wrong with a few days shopping or Dillying in Penang or Singapore.

    Welcome back Misskit.

I came through BKK at the end of June and had that Thailand Pass nonsense checked 3 times. Then I went to Penang and returned 2 days ago at DMK. My vaccination certificate was checked then Immigration was a breeze, no queue at all. No Q&A. As quick as getting into UK. Nice.

As a matter of interest, now I don't have a TM6 in my passport, what is likely to happen when I try to do my next 90 Days Report online?
