To get a visa or extension based on marriage you will need to submit a คร.2 (Kor Ror 2), a document from your local amphur office declaring you are still married as husband and wife. (คร.3 is the marriage certificate itself). It's usually easy to get and probably costs 20 baht. If there is a crocodile smiled woman with big hair she may make it stressful.

Then again I'm sure if i slipped here 2k she'd bite my hand off.

Just needed to send marriage certificate before, must be some righty dodgy farangs in Thailand now......

    Thanks for the info.

Different amphurs, different rules, different officers, different rules.

Most are easy, most friends have sent their wife to pick it up without them. Takes a few minutes.

Probably not that easy if you rock up by yourself saying you don't know where your wife is, but would like an official document stating you're still married and together.

Well one things for sure, this opening of Thailand is a total fuck up, the website ain't changed yet and seems the opening on Thailand and its new system of entry through Thailand Pass will only start from !st November.

Govt talks up new, 'more efficient' Thailand Pass

^ he's getting himself quite worked up over info on ThaiVisa because they seem to have more up to date info than the Thai Embassy site in London, could you give London a ring for him and straighten it out Lu.

Mrs got the Kor Ror 2 by herself donkeys ago and I just used the same one for a new work permit application (new job, new company) so it doesn't appear to expire. Which is strange, if it's proof that you are still together. I didn't know that's what it is until now.

I don't remember using it for marriage visa extension though, as they usually come round to the house to check you are still together. I have my appointment on Wednesday but they haven't been round yet this time.

I'm on holiday in Krabi though so tough titties as I'm going straight to immigration from here.

I guess these are a few of the reasons a 20 year Elite visa would be nice.

What's an extra million at this point

If I come in on a 60 day tourist visa then work on the marriage visa after I arrive could I buy a one way ticket? Or would I need to get some throw away flight.

I think you extended an O visa based on marriage to a Thai.

    Eh wot.

So Thai embassies around the world have withdrawn their service for providing 90 day single-entry Non-Imm O visas based on marriage to a Thai?

Get a single-entry Non-O based on marriage, one way flight no issue, and get 90 days when arriving.

Remember there's the option of getting a 60 day extension of temporary stay based on family with any visa, and even a visa-exemption. You can go to the immigration office the day after arriving, pay 1900thb and the 60 days is stamped to start on the date your permission of temporary stay expires. If you get a tourist visa, you can do this to make it 120 days.

Actually, I flew to Singapore for a few days and came back 1 day before it expired, got another 90 days stamp out of it and then I extended it for another year.

Dirk finally found this and even it is a bit ambiguous. But I too had a Scottish friend who upon reflection would take his old marriage certificate to Penang to get a one year extension. But he would still have to leave Thailand every three months..

    Thai Marriage Visa

    How to apply

A Thai Marriage Visa can be applied for at a Thai Royal Consulate or Embassy outside of Thailand, or at an Immigration Office within Thailand.
If you wish to start your application outside of Thailand you will first need to make an application for a Non-Immigrant O Visa of either 90 days or 1 year. Once in Thailand you can report to immigration and activate your Non-Immigrant O Marriage Visa.
You must make sure you have all the requested documents, including copies and all originals. When entering Thailand on a 90 day Non-Immigrant O Visa, you must make the Marriage Visa extension at an immigration office during the last 30 days of your permitted 90-day stay.
The normal process for a marriage visa takes around 4 weeks, but in some cases it can take a week or 2 longer.

    No he didn't.

You don't get an extension in Penang. Nobody gets an extension in Penang. Penang. Extension. No. You get a visa. An extension is done in Thailand.

    Please just stop.

Get a 90 day single-entry Non-O visa based on family (spouse), or get a 12 month Non-O Multi-Entry based on family (spouse) (becoming slightly rare nowadays) at a Thai embassy outside of Thailand.

Get a 12 month extension at an immigration office inside Thailand, or with the 12 month ME version you need to leave the country before your 90 day stamp is up, and you can then re-enter and get another 90 day stamp (by doing a border run). Obviously the latter is a bit messed up nowadays.

Being an immigration expert, I have a few, though most are actually women. Nice women.

    Got Bendy-Mendy sorted out.

Actually believe it or not they have a covid special and it's only 1 baht. Wife did it just 7 days ago.

I used to hate going to Penang back in the day, but it came a long way and now I'm missing my yearly soiree.
