I haven't filled out any form for 90 day report in years. I go in, give them my Passport, they take out the piece of paper they stapled into it from the last report, they then enter stuff on their computer, then they print out another piece of paper that they staple back into my Passport and off I go. The new piece of paper has the date for my next report on it.

Very simple really as to me it seems as though they are just doing my report for my on line. I could do it myself I suppose but I always like the trip up to Buriram as I can get a burger and visit a friend who lives there. On that note a French guy has just opened a new burger joint in Nang Rong and his burgers as up there with the best I have ever had so maybe I will have to change to online 90day reporting in the future and visit my friend when I feel like it.

Life is pretty simple when you don't complicate it. By that I mean why give a toss at why the Thai Immigration do anything just follow their rules and give them what they want and move on and enjoy doing what ever it is you are here for.

I did mine today, I would suggest going in to the office 45 days prior to expiry date with all the paper work and proof of income ready to go, as i did, They then made a booking for me to come back when they had an opening (it was 7 days prior to expiry), they wanted more documents, they wanted 3 months of bank statements done on the day of appointment as well as a dep/with done on the day and the Bank letter, they also told me i must bring a Thai National in person with me and a copy of ID card and Tabian Ban, and that the person must know me.I was on a marriage visa since 2012 and changed to retirement in 2014, My original visa is a non imm O, so i DONT need to have medical insurance, if you have a non imm Oa, you will need proof of medical insurance. Hope this helps. (regardless of my particular office, the advice stands, because it changed for me 3 times from the same office over the last 5 years). Hope this helps

I've always done immigration visits in person, but thought someone else can do your 90-day reports for you, and know several farangs whose wives or agents do the honours. What have I missed?

Awarded an extension to stay on this basis:

    extension of stay.-family-extensio-jpg

    The financial requirements are:

    extension of stay.-0-visa-extention-jpg

When I applied the TIO was adamant that the requirement was the second option:

"must have THB 400,000 in a THAI Bank".

When I showed her the official web page and option 18 clause 6 she agreed to check with head office, who confirmed it was valid. To which she added, "That's news to me."

All the other paperwork was acceptable but she did say, "The decision is up to head office".

Today, after the standard one months "consideration" period, my passport was stamped with the additional 11 months.

    The Immigration site page is:

    https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14714

The requirement is 12 months bank statements indicating foreign credits or if income is from Thai sources tax receipts, an annual amount greater than THB 480,000. The 12 months total divided by 12, the average, must be greater than THB 40,000.

    Different to the retirement extension.

My Thai bank, Bangkok Bank, can only print up to 6 months of statements at the branch on demand. A full 12 months takes 7 days, which should be allowed for.

This is nothing new, the requirement for extension based on marriage has always been the 400.000 in a bank account or 40.000 monthly income or a combination of them.

Not to you or I, but possibly other TD members and to my personal knowledge, the combined staff at two TIOs.

    The difference between them is;

The retirement extension is a stated monthly minimum.

The Thai spouse extension is an average of 12 monthly payments. Thus allowing flexibility, if desired.

You'd be amazed at those who don't agree, quite often wearing Thai government uniforms.

As for the "combination" method that doesn't appear on the website.

If anyone knows the answer, out of interest, under a marriage visa requiring proof of 400k/pa, what if the farang has no money and zero income (unlikely) though the wife can certify the required amount in savings or salary?

You can just try to transfer 1baht for 11 month and then 479.989 baht the last month...

Not on the list I linked too and was available to me. There are another 34 options. One of which is if your embassy request one on your behalf, option 28.

You could try. Whether it was acceptable is a judgement "head office" would determine.

It's 40k per month or 400k lump sum. If using the lump sum route, the wife transfers 400,000k of her savings into your account no less than 2 months before your application and you give it back to her after you obtain the extension.

Some immigration offices allow you to withdraw the funds after you get the under consideration stamp, others want to see the cash still sitting there until you get the extension.

I'm currently on my first ever extension of stay (based on marriage) to a Non O visa... the extension expires on October 5th and immigration said I have to apply for another 12 month extension before September 5th, I guess to allow for the 30 day processing time.

I've been offered some good work in Norway starting mid September... ie right in the critical time for reapplying for the extension to stay. If I'm away I guess the extension expires and I will be left with no visa to re-enter Thailand after the work finishes.

I need to talk to immigration, but was wondering if anyone please knows offhand how early I can apply for another 12 month extension, ie could I apply in early August, two months before my current extension expires?

The norm is applications can be made from 30 days before expiry, however some offices allow up to 45 days. Now, the "Under Consideration" period will be 30 days from expiry, not 30 days from when you apply (i.e. "Under Consideration" until 4th November). You can actually apply up until the date of expiry, not necessarily 30/45 days before (this year I applied on 20th April with an expiry date of 25th April).

What about vaccination requirements/quarantine for getting into Norway? Doesn't look too good for getting back into LoS in time, unless you can explain the situation to the contracting company and do first 2 week tour and get back to get the new extension in the passport.

Some interesting questions that PAG has posted.

You can let your current extension expire and enter on a visa exempt (30 days)

Near the end of your 30 days, you can extend for another 60 days (due to being married to a Thai national).

This would give you ample time to apply for a non-o using the 400k seasoned for 2 months route.

I'm no expert, but this is what I done last year. I do not know the current rules about needing a visa to enter, so hopefully some more posters will chip-in with your options.

    Thanks Bogon.

A problem is that I'll be entering on a single ticket and airlines can be very reluctant to let you board without a return. I'd much rather be entering with a valid visa/extension.

So many unknowns here, as Bogon points out you can just leave and let your extension lapse. What the entry/quarantine criteria will be after October is anybodys guess. Would the work be rotational or for the duration of the contract and how long is it?

Probably just a one off... 2 or 3 months duration.

Covid intriduces a lot of unknowns of course...maybe by the end of the year I could fly back via Songapore and pick up a multiple entry Non O... or maybe not.

This can be done at the start of the 30 days, or at any time during. The 60 day extension will start from the end of the 30 days regardless of when you get it (day 2 of the 30, or day 28 of the 30)

Getting the extension based on being a parent, rather than spouse, doesn't require any seasoning of funds. It only needs to be in your bank account on the day of application.

To note, being married isn't required for this, so if someone has finally had enough of the BS, they can get divorced, and get the same visas and annual extensions due to being a parent of a Thai. It won't affect their visa situation except for never having to season funds. Which given the low interest rates, is a good thing. :-)

In case anyone is wondering about 90 day reports online, I did mine last week and the site is working. Hit the Submit button then checked the application status immediately after and by that time, it was approved with the new paperwork ready to print out.
