    Thai visas in Laos

Does the Thai Embassy in Viengchan/Vientiane do Multi-Entry Non-Immigrant O Visas, or is it only Savannakhet?
If so, do they do them same day?
    Cheers.

Savannakhet does, Vientiane doesn't. Hoh Chi Minh also issues them, which someone recently started a thread on.

They are two day processes. Go in the Morning, pick up next afternoon after 2pm.

Thanks. So have to be there to submit it by Thursday morning.

Looks like a bumpy tedious drive across Isan (rather than bus or flight). Off to the Lao embassy tomoz then. I guess they do VoA for 1500 THB and two pics, but it's not far and kills time whilst I wait for replacement colourful marriage cert be translated. Otherwise I might take one of my kids with their Thai passport, ID card and Thai birth cert, and do it that way. The rules say you can, should work.

It sounds like the policy change from ME to SE is somehow to do with the roll-out of new software for making appointments? Bemusing really. Are there any easier countries I can buy wives from? I got an offer from a young Indo bird yesterday, but that place seems like (even) hard(er) work.

Thai Visa in Viengchan/Vientiane... reportedly by "resident" they mean permanent resident, but that doesn't make sense to me - why would a permanent resident be applying for a non-imm o visa? surely they'd be doing annual extensions?

Are you an English native speaker?
If so, WTF are you on about?
ps; you do NOT need "colourful" marriage certificates translated.
The original, and a copy will do nicely.
By the way, made an online booking with VTNE?
    Otherwise you aint getting in.
Savannakhet may not have the ambience or the nightlife, but Christ, it is a helluva lot easier.
And you get 15 instead of 3 months.
    Your choice.

I know that, I just didn't delete it in time. The old translation of the K.R.3 is only for UK home office bollox.
I'm not going to Vientiane, I'm driving to Mukdahan to go over to Savannakhet สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ แขวงสะหวันนะเขต :: Royal Thai Consulate-General, Savannakhet
The translation is of a deed poll name change that's already apostilled and legalised by the Thai embassy in London.

We can report it lost, even if we believe it's in the UK, and get a new one from the council with a new number on it; but, we may not need it, because we have kids with all their ID and passports, and that should be enough. I just take at least one of the kids across the river with me and show their ID.
London wankers apparently now won't give an SE O visa without an onward ticket, hence the 9 hour drive, to keep life relatively simple.
I may do the 40,000 baht recycling method to get an extension later in the year.

Nemo, are you staying in mukdahan the night?

If so try the riverfront hotel 800 baht a night rooms are basic but great breakfast, have family rooms as well.

Just stayed there, and the market is pretty good.

Thai passports get at least 14 days visa free in Cambo and Laos I'm sure... the point is to wheel them up to the consulate and say, 'ere you go... they can't speak thai but they got a Thai pp, birth cert, and batr prachachon motherfucker.
P.S. English is an official language, so the 200,000+ Anglo-Thais are not an irrelevant ethnic minority.

ahh... yes one hasn't got any passport at all, and is unable to walk, but I don't think we're taking the hire care over, just do the hokey cokey.

The kid without a passport was allowed to cross into Laos without by being appended to a 3-day border pass on my wife's passport.
Unexpected, but interesting. It might be useful for someone to know is a thing. The little green books the locals have are apparently for Mukdahan residents only.

At the consulate, even when presented with a Thai-dual national kid with their ID and passport, birth cert, tabian barn, everything really, they would only offer a single entry visa.
My Mrs turned up just then, unexpectedly, with the other ones, and argued the toss with them for a while to try and get the multi for the kids not her (which I guess they might have found a bit of a strange request), and they ended up, to our surprise, querying why her name had changed from the translation on the Kor Ror 3 and her various IDs... like it never normally happens when a woman gets married?!

Again, interestingly, they accepted the K.R.3 (we didn;t have the pretty K.R.2), and gave the multi-entry.
https://teakdoor.com/thai-visas-and-...ml#post2884199 (Savannakhet Marriage Visa without funds, last week)

I found it all a bit bemusing, because there didn't seem to a rule that was being applied, but it worked out anyway, which, yeah is great for an outcome, but not so great for a reliable predictable process. You end up having to take everything, including human meatsacks, because you can't be sure. It's not really the outcome I wanted, because I want them to give a multi entry family visa for a thai kid, regardless of whether I'm married or a widower. Anyway, i'll maybe pay a visit to the consular hq to ask them about it, and meanwhile get set up for my extension next year, and explore some other options.
