Hi all. I have posted this question on other sites but no one seems to be able to provide a clear answer. I thought I would give the this forum a go there might be a few retirees here who may have actually done a non-O visa based on retirement at Savannakhet.
This question is addressed to anyone who has recently gone to Savannakhet to get a non-O visa based on retirement. Information on non-O visas based on marriage or some other reason will not help as they have different requirements than the one I am looking for.
The requirements set out on the consulate web page are:
Required documents
- Visa application form [Download] which is completely filled out and signed by the applicant
- Original passport or travel document (must not expire within 180 days and contain at least two complete empty visa pages) and A copy of passport (The page(s) shows the applicant’s photo, name, date, and place of birth and the expiration date of passport)
- Two (2) photos of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months)
- Bank statement (minimum of THB 800,000) or Certification of Income (minimum of THB 65,000 monthly)
- Official letter from the concerned Embassy/Consulate of applicant's nationality
- Visa Fee: 2,000 Baht (Single Entry)
All the requirements are clear except for No. 5. I have no idea what is meant and no one on any of the other sites I have checked seems to know what is meant either. A Thai speaker has provided a translation of item 5 from the Thai version which states: "5. Certificate of retirement from the embassy of that person with that nationality" and which is a bit different than the English version but it is still unclear. Is it a sworn statement stating that I am retired? Is it about pension income?
I have emailed the Thai consulate in Savannakhet asking about it but have received no response.
Everything else seems pretty straightforward, however, I would really appreciate any information about what form/letter you used for number 5 - and that was accepted in Savannakhet - from folks that have actually done a non-O (retirement) visa recently.
Many thanks
David
