    TM30

Question for folks doing annual extension to stay at Chaengwattana IO.

Is a new TM30 required to get the extension?

    not answering your question

there is an app available for reporting your address once you do it at a crime suppression office - 62 meg does not inspire confidence , so get some one else to install it on their thai rubbish infested phone

I went to my TIO 3 months ago and was told I must have one. Another paper to keep safe and another piece of paper stapled in your passport.

Been here 5 years never asked prior. It appears you can be fined if you don't have one.

I was under the impression they are valid untill you leave the country. Why would you need a "new" one?

    An article here:

That is indeed the pregnant question. Asking for my brother who is on his way back from US to do his extension. Just did mine and Roi Et IO did not ask for a new TM30.

    Thanks for the answer OhOh.

Can't answer concerning CW. Although a lot of traffic on TV saying CW is requiring, and fining, with long lines at the TM30 counter adding to the discontent of extension filings.

For myself at Nonthaburi IO, wasn't required or asked for "before" - now, as per my Attorney - I (or my wife) need to file a TM30 upon return from out-of-country trips. So I (we) registered to do the reports on-line. Took about a month to receive the user name and password from them (although the website says seven business days).

At last return from USA we filed in person. The IO said that upon return reporting "within one week" is adequate (not the 24h reported).

PIA but of little consequence if I can file the reports on-line. Same as the 90 day reports. Been filing on line for the past couple of years now without issue.

Just another "hoop" to jump through. No big deal to me as long as I can do it from the comfort of home. Another layer of "useless" bureaucracy. Everybody knows that the Thai database of the location of foreign criminals will be keep current and up to date to avoid the THB 800 fine imposed on non-filers.

I'd imagine a TM 30 is for life but is confirmed every 90 days because every 90 days after you obtained it you have to report to immigration to confirm your abode with a TM 47. Or am I talking out me arse?

You'd need a new one if you'd lost the one you had. Maybe?

The answer is yes to my question re Changwattana IO. Informed brother. Not hapoy as just another hoop to jump through. He is going to hire an agent as he can't be bothered dealing with Thai immigration nonsense.

    Thanks all for replies.

^^ Why need a "new" one period. I can understand filing your initial, and any change-of-address.

For myself, I have a yellow book, Usufruct, Drivers Licenses, Insurance Policies, TM30 and the long list of 90 day reports which ALL report my current address.

If the Thai's can't find me - that's their problem. But, of course, their inability to find anything in their own country necessitates hand drawn maps.

14 years of being legal here and I'm in a position where I'm thinking 'is it worth it'? Nearly every time I visit my IO there seems to be a new hoop. Last hoop being that they wanted 500 Baht off of me to transfer my stamps from my old passport to a new one. I refused to pay it in front of an office full of people. Immigration backed down. Enough is enough.
    Not just me bitching.

I have been living and working in Thailand for the past 4 years. First under a Non-Imm B visa extended for business purpose for the next 2 years. Work Permit and Visa have been done at Chamchuri Square (One Stop Service Center) as I work for a very large listed company. The process there is relatively easy and quick.
Got married back in 2015 and thought in 2018 that it would be best applying for a marriage extension (on my existing visa) instead of business so as to be not dependent on the company if things go south. Also, paperwork seemed to be a lot less and I thought it would be easier for our visa lady to process the application. So last year, I had to do that in CW instead of One Stop Service center. Already a hassle last year with long lines and 2 visits instead of one (with no other change to my situation than the reason for extension).
This year, with the TM.30 requirements at CW I did some research and it turns out that all people with visas and WPs from CW are subjected to TM.30 requirements whereas the ones with visas/WPs from Chamchuri are not!!
In addition, with the re-entry permit from Chamchuri, visa holders are entitled to the priority BOI lane at the airport (which I didn't know before).
So bottom line is that by marrying a Thai and having a kid and not changing a single thing to my professional status other than the reason for the visa extension, I am being inconvenienced more than a person who is a single expat living it up in Thailand for example. I really fail to understand the logic behind this...

Changing back to business extension this year. Sad.

At my final 90 day report of 2018, I was told that for my next one I needed a new TM 30. When that occurred, M'Sahib came with me just in case I didn't have the correct paperwork, and whilst there, she did the registration for on-line access as a house owner. Now, for the infrequent occasions that either I'm away for a few days, or we have friends staying with us, she does everything on-line. Recommended.

Won't be too long before they come up with a hoop for that I'd imagine?

Perhaps the reason Roiet IO never asks me for TM30 is because I am listed as owner of the house in blue Tambien Baan. Don't know but sure as hell not going to ask them why.

OK, just installed on both mine and M'Sahib's phone using her normal log on ID and password. Previously she'd used the actual website instead of the app.

why do you guys even bother?

and yes the business visa easy route makes sense,

they have too many expats being married, so harassing them seems to be the main target

    Yup.

Did it with a space first, then again with no space. Still didn't come up. May be a compatibility thing. Might try it later with my tablet which is newer.

Registered on this, and supplied my Tabien Baan and Chanote, still no email to 'complete the registration'. Looks like they might actually check them.

I wasn't allowed to 90day report last week because I'd forgotten the landlord tm thing. And then they kept my passport because they couldn't find record of any previous 90day reporting for 2 years.

Managed to sort it all out but I've been 90day reporting to someone the last two years...
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic
