Naw, changing the regulation is actual work, ignoring it is easier. Of course, now with the "recent" revival of TM30 concern, it's on the IO's radar and can easily be used to "aggravate" select loud-mouthed foreigners - you know, the ones who need to be taught a lesson or put in their place.

Yeah did my work permit and extension at Sriracha one stop last week and nothing about the tm30 was mentioned..... to my horror though the work permit does not have an address so for me to buy a car and scoot Iam going to have to get a residency cert and I bet those fuckers at Jomtien will want a tm30 !!

What a load of bollix. It's the fcuking immigration officers that need putting in place. Are you one of those farang that leave your balls at the office door on entry?

Per letter of the law yes. Go stay anywhere and you or your host have 24hrs to report address via TM30.

However, if you do not plan a trip to IO office for 90 day report, extension to stay or whatever, practically no need.

Hotels and landlords are supposed to file TM 30 when they have foreign guest but don't bet on it. If you plan a trip to IO best do it yourself on line as IO will ask for it and you will have to pay fine.

This law has been in place since 1979 but only recently enforced.

I did read that if you do an hospital stay then a TM 30 has to be filed for that. God knows if it's down to the hospital to get fined for failing to report. What about if one's in jail?

Naw, I use a Thai Attorney to handle the picayune BS any of the IO's may come up with. But, that being said I am required to appear at the bank and then appear in person for the extension process. And, I have NEVER observed a hand out or a "bullshit" inquiry. Everything done was "by the book" and in the regulations. For some odd reason, I've never had any "problem(s)" with Thai Immigration although I do find their regulatory requirements kinda tedious.

Are you one of those loud, big-mouth falang that march into the Thai Immigration Office, telling them how to do their jobs and how farked their system is?

Perhaps Prag, just perhaps, your reputation precedes you.

Private hospitals typically have a person that handles immigration stuff, I assume they sort the TM.30 stuff.

Depends on how you interpret 'loud mouth'. I don't just sit there and accept any old shit to be thrown at me. I'm not the rookie that's gonna roll over when the officer says so. For whatever I visit an office for I'm knowledgeable enough to know if the officer behind the desk is taking the piss. Whenever I go do me my annual renewal etc the missus goes with me. I let her do the talking as she knows I'm one of those loud mouths that isn't going going to be ridden rough shod over. Been here 14 years and in the beginning it wasn't like it is now with the corruption. It's getting worse.
I've got 3 kids that I have to think of and all I get at immigration is them wanting me to become a crook and do my extension under the table, to their benefit. Sorry but that ain't gonna happen. No I am not the big mouth you may take me for. I'm just an honest guy that doesn't want to be fcuked about.

^ If you stay in hotels, they are doing it for you. If you are staying with friends and family, they are supposed to report your stay.

So won't bother as usual but might get nabbed at the airport for a meager fine?

^ You wouldn’t have to show the TM30 because you don’t reside in Thailand. Don’t know how they would or could hold a tourist responsible for police reports. Hotels and guest houses have always filed a report it if they complied with the law. No change there.

I doubt very much you'll get nabbed. You are not the guilty party and not responsible in paying the fine. If, and that's a big IF and want money then ask for a receipt first. No receipt then it's not a legal fine.

It's a little money maker for those fuckers.

If you are doing 90 day reports you can just put the hotel in wife's name and send her to check in alone and sneak in after.

Its a lot like 1940's Germany with the Jews

I've been living continually in Thailand since 2006 on Non O visas based on marriage. I get a multi entry visa once a year which allows me 90 days at a time, which with regular work rotations has been perfect. In 13 years I have only had to leave the country twice purely for the visa run - and to be honest after 90 straight days in Korat a trip away somewhere on my own is a pleasure.

Because of this I've never had to visit the Korat immigration office. Should my wife be doing the TM30 each time I return home? I fill out our Korat address on the arrival card (TM6?) but usually spend a couple of days in Bangkok before heading back to Korat, so will presumably be registered at the hotel's address. We also regularly spend a few nights away while I'm home.

My feeling has been that as I'm under the radar to just keep it that way and take the fine if and when it happens. If I register once at Korat immigration then I'll be above the radar and in the system. Any chance of being picked up for this at the airport when leaving?

One worry is that I've read rumours of the multi-entry Non O visas being phased out. The Thai embassy in London has apparently stopped issuing them and the Cardiff Consul (which I used to use) stopped issuing them years ago. Now I tend to get the visa in Singapore each year with no problem.

Calm yourself butters. The process here is cumbersome and in need of improvement but goal as it is in every country is to know where folks reside.

No idea where you are these days but you can bet the gov knows exactly where a dodgey fellow such as you can be found.

Why not get your wife to register at the Korat Immigration office to do the TM30 online? Seems easy enough as some on here have stated.

Yes. Within 24hrs either at the Korat IO or on line.

Thanks, yes, I'd better get the wife to register and sort this out, to do online each time.

I've put it off because its never really been an issue since I never go to an immigration office, but I guess its better safe than sorry. Maybe at some point it will become an issue at immigration when leaving the country?

If I go direct to my home in Korat, on the same address filled out on the arrival card TM6, should I also be registering each time? (although once registered online I guess it will do no harm anyway).
