So - to days update. Went to do my yearly extension. To cut to the chase got a new piece of paper stapled in my passport. Was told not to remove it, and I would not have to report address next year unless I moved house in the meantime. Seems my address is now "registered". Hopefully done with it for now. Except the immigration officer wrote the wrong address on the slip of paper......555.
Hoping it means that even for in and outs of the country, no need to report.

I was with two other farangs dong the same thing, who did NOT get the slip. It seems that as I was doing the extension in the province I live, I got it, but they live in a different province to where they did the extension.

Call me stupid but I thought one had to do a TM30 upon returning to base after a 24 hour trip outside of ones province. Is this correct?

According to the law as specifically stated now you are correct. This ridiculous law is currently under review and will change.

Hell, following the letter of the law, at least the english interpretations of the Thai regulations I've seen, and the various ways they've been interpreted, not only do we need to report within 24 hours after return, we have to inform them before we leave, forget just which form number or regulation that was interpreted that way, but, I've pretty much dismissed 'em all.

As reported earlier, I've bulled my way through the Thailand immigration internet maze and now do my 90 day reports and my TM30 reports on-line.

I extend in about a month. See if I've screwed any of 'em up.

Technically yes but how do they know you left your province if not reported by your accomodation elsewhere ?

I spent 3 nights up in Buriram for the motogp... no tm.30 done there by the landlord so no need for me to do one upon my return home.

Went to Pattaya with family at the week-end. Told the wife to book in so as only her name was registered at the hotel. Hotel wouldn't have it. All farangs have to register and show ID. All's good I'll do a TM30 online when I get back. I have registered with the online service.
Me and the wife could not make heads or tails of the online form and kept getting an error message. So the missus phones the Buriram office and she was told 'only farang leaving and re-entering Thailand need to complete a TM30'. I was of the understanding you had to do it upon leaving and returning to your province?

The online registration page for falangs has a section for uploading the documents necessary for completing the registration, but it fails to list the documents required.

What docs do they actually require in order to process the application, register you and send you your password?

This guy's quite informative. He's very anti TVF.

That does not match what the link above quotes.

    F. I left my primary residence and went on holiday in Thailand, then came back again to my primary residence?
Yes. The hotel would have registered you when you arrived, so when you return to your primary residence you will need to register again.

Same thing I am hearing in Roi Et offices Prags. They are sick and tired of trying to deal with the TM30 mess. Which gets us back again to the varying rules at discretion of your local office.

Agreed but when going to the office that gave the info they'll deny ever saying it. Happened to me once before concerning something else.

Yeah good luck with that, she should call them back and ask what the fine is.

They fined her 500 Baht a while back, no receipt. According to the link I posted the fine is 1,600.

The fine for not reporting is 1,600 Baht per person.

Few years ago I got fined for overstay because the airport IO missed my retirement extension and stamped me in for 30 days; seems we're responsible to ensure they get it right. On the bright side they gave me a discount for insisting on no receipt.

About a decade ago had an IO stamp me in for thirty vice 90 days. Walking away from the stand I'm checking my passport and noticed the error. Turned around and walked back, really couldn't have been a couple of minutes and the IO had changed. The new one refused to correct the error. That's not me, not my problem, I just stood there, he tried to "shoo" me away. After a minute or two he relented, angrily crossing out the date and scribbled me in for ninety, almost illegible but OK. Hell, after twenty-eight hours of travel I didn't care - just glad I caught it at the airport.

I had the same problem in reverse,

they gave me 90 days when my actual Multi-O had already expired by 1 month, and didn't see it at the time

however, on my next checkin 90 days later, they went apeshit and said something was wrong and I had cheated

They spent 1h checking every page of my passport for any illegal stamps, and realized I was right. They were ready to ban and deport me over the whole thing. Thank god I kept my calm.

Work told me today that we just need to tm30 once a year. This does seem to go against everything else I've heard about it...

Every year or two, they create and add [making up shit as they go] unnecessary policy to their already full bureaucratic pool without truly thinking it through - usually associated with the new wave of paranoid and pre-cautionary thought regarding long/short time residents and tourists alike. Extending much more complexities than need to be....most certainly of the last 10 years become overwhelming for all parties involved.

Our memories will serve that the general processes were never this ridiculously government xenophobic-driven.
Every little thing that one does is theoretically monitored, yet, of course less practiced.
Why not return to the days of yore?
What might be the harm [in their eyes]?

    Well that was prophetic Norton.
Apparently more nonsense with a new TM 30 which as far as I can make out is a requirement after returning to Thailand although I cant seem to get a straight answer on the change.

All I can tell you is new TM30 not needed in Roi Et IO.
