One year extension to stay Roi Et Immigration Office

I did 65k baht per month method.

They required bank statement showing min 65k baht per month transfered in. I had bank statement and bank book but did not show 65k per month. I only sent funds in when I needed. Sometimes 200k every couple months. They will not average over the year.

Note, in the past always used US Embassy letter of income which they no longer issue so bank statement was not required.

To remedy this they said they would accept copy of 1099 forms which show Social Security and Company retirement earnings. For non Americans, 1099 is what you get for purpose of tax filing. Just happened to have them on my phone so quick trip to shop across the street for printouts.

Gave them 1099 copies and got the extension.

Next year as I now have monthly auto transfer in excess of 65k baht to Bangkok Bank will be no need for 1099s.

Note, My local Bangkok Bank branch will only do a 6 month statement. A full year takes 7 days so will have to make sure I request the statement at least 7 days before extension runs out.

Forgot to bring recent pictures but they took them at the IO. 100 baht.

    Total time about 1 hour.

Total cost, 1,900 baht for extension, 100 baht for pics, and 100 baht to Bangkok Bank for statement.

This only applies to Roi Et IO. Best check requirements at your local office before your extension is due.

    Thanks.

You are suggesting that your IO would have preferred and accepted a years Thai bank statement, plus bank book copies, as evidence of your pensions/income, yes?

Yes. It is preferred. I have remedied the monthly 65k funds transfer by having US bank send automatically. Next year will be only bank statement required.

No mention or hint about health insurance.

Other than one guy popping in to do 90 day, I was the only one there. Was more a chat over coffee and cookies with the head honcho. Striking difference in overall experience than one encounters at Chang Wattana.

Daily routine Prags. Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy and wise. So far not working.

My bank charges a three-day remittance at the rate of around £35 ( urgent is around £50 ) which includes Thai fees. To do this every month is truly an unnecessary expense to be incurred because Somchai is too fucking incompetent to add up transferred payments in a given year and divide by twelve.

If I go to bed earlier than 2300 hrs I wake up at around 0400hrs with the nightmare I'm married and live in Wales surrounded by savages babbling incoherent bollocks with their hands out.

780,000 baht transferred once is 65k per month average. I can see why Immigration insists on the monthly transfer. In any case if you want the extension you need 65k monthly transfer.

In my case, $10 at US side, 300baht Thai side. Exchange rate as per Bangkok Bank on day funds received.

$10, eh. Brit banks are less kind, £25 for us usually. But I suppose we do get free banking and can go overdrawn which is not the case with you, as I understand it.

The thing is, just what on earth do you spend 65,000 baht a month on in the boonies. Do you have children?

The sticks is not appealing to all but for some it is a pleasant alternative to living in an urban area and all the downsides that go with it. Of course there are upsides but after living and working 20 years in Bangkok my quality of life here is much improved.

Are you suggesting the Combined method is no longer available at your local TIO?

Certified income, by the Thai bank statements etc., + bank balance = > THB 400,000/800,000 ?

did they not tell you that the 65,000 needs to show in your bank book and statement that it came in from outside the country?
some people using "transferwise" does not always show it as an international transfer

From what date? Or is that a local TIO's "interpretations" to make?

The initial December 2018 TI "amendment" was superseded/amended by one or two in January 2019 "annoucements" indicating a February or March 2019 enforcement date.

One wonders, as it appears all "marriage extensions" are sent to "TI headquarters", whether there is a "TI headquarters" document clarifying the situation/options available to foreigners?

Or possibly turning up at the local TI office, with copies of the "amendments" will trump the local TIO's "understanding"?

No they did not but the bank statement and bank book I showed them had all deposits from US banks.

I will ask them when I do my 90 day.

Visa Extension Requirements for a Foreigner with Thai family.

I found this on the Thai Immigration Bureau web site:

The English version. (There are two language options at the link below. Top right corner. Thai and English .

    สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง

    Immigration Bureau

In the case of being a family member of a Thai national (applicable only to parents, spouse, children, adopted children, or spouse’s children):

    Criteria for Consideration

    (1) The alien must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).
    (2) The alien must have proof of relationship.
    (3) In the case of spouse, the relationship must be de jure and de facto; or
    (4) In the case of children, adopted children, or spouse’s children, said children, adopted children, or spouse’s children must not be married, must live with the alien as part of the family, and must not be over 20 years of age; or
    (5) In the case of parents, the father or mother must maintain an average annual income of no less than Baht 40,000 per month throughout the year or must have deposited funds of no less than Baht 400,000 to cover expenses for one year.
For other necessary cases, the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of Immigration Bureau

is granted the authority to make decisions regarding approval on a case-by-case basis.
    (6) In the case of marriage to a Thai woman, the alien husband must earn an average annual income of no less than Baht 40,000 per month or must have no less than Baht 400,000 in a bank account in Thailand for the past two months to cover expenses for one year.

    Documents to be submitted

    Application form
    2. Copy of applicant’s passport
    3. Copy of documents proving relationship, such as a marriage certificate, a birth certificate,
registration of child legitimization, household registration certificate, child adoption registration
certificate, or other evidence from the government or relevant agency
    4. Copy of evidence proving the Thai nationality of the spouse, parents, children, or adopted
children, such as a national ID card, copy of household registration certificate, or other evidence
issued by the government or relevant agency
    5. Only for Criteria (5) and (6), the applicant must attach a funds deposit certificate issued by a
bank in Thailand and a copy of a bankbook
, or attach documents proving that the parents or alien
husband earns an average monthly income of no less than Baht 40,000 throughout the year, such as any particular individual income tax return together with payment receipt, evidence of receiving retirement pension, evidence of receiving interest from funds deposit, or evidence of having other funds issued by the relevant agency. An affidavit must also be submitted confirming the alien’s marital or parental status with a Thai national.

    Original at: https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_18

The Thai version is identical except the Thai version, has links, to the "Documents to be submitted", which don't work.

There is also a similar documents for the Visa extension - Retirement here:

    https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_22

There is also this which indicates "Thai bank deposits on a monthly basis", as shown in a Thai bank provided statement, are acceptable "evidence".

I presume this document will be available on the Thai Immigration web site, somewhere.

This is what Roiet IO expected for extension to stay.
Because my bank statement did not show min 65k per month the local IO granted the extension as per items 1 and 2 in doc above. In my case copies of US 1099 Tax forms.

And as per the doc above I was told next extension must show 65k min per month.

    Subtle differences.

I was not aware that you can get a permit to stay based on living together with a Thai without being married.

yep in Thailand, common wife is quite the standard

even for farangs, no need for official documents, and the legal financial obligations can be the same in a separation

What is refreshing is that they, your IO at least, acknowledges the Jan. 4th 2019 ministry letter.

Here is the "relationship proof" list, prefixed with the phrase "such as". Your IO may have other alternatives.

"3. Copy of documents proving relationship, such as a marriage certificate, a birth certificate,
