Herea another quick search that shows Samui and Hua Hin charge 500 to add to your Buriram. Although they do mention no receipts also
https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/997...rt-to-new-one/
What we have here is people taking up the opportunity of making money for a service which they think they should charge for, but obviously their top bosses don't see it that way, hence why there is no receipts given. I know it's been 10 years but I never got shafted the last time. I put this down to the spineless farangs that leave their spines at the IO door.
Cant you just leave your visa and stamps on your old passport and carry two until your visa expires?
Can I check if I have this correct?
You are not happy that you were asked for 500 baht to change stamps from old passport to a new passport. Part of the reason is that spineless people leave their spines at the door and pay the 500 baht at various other Thai immigration buildings around the country to facilitate this form of corruption.
You go on to say that your wife had 100 baht ready to give them as a 'tip'.
So, from my observations, it wasn't the money being asked, but the amount of money being asked. The difference being 400 baht more of what your wife was prepared to pay.
More than happy for you guys to correct me.
Black diamonds? I shit 'em.
Okay.
She was prepared to pay 100 Baht as per the Thai way after good service. I never said was ready with a 100 Baht before I got any service. But to openly be asked for 500 Baht for a service that is supposedly free tipped her over the edge. And why wasn't the guy after me asked to pay 500 Baht as he was getting his stamp transferred as well?
^ Cheers.
Just asking to understand the situation.
Get the daughter to pen a protest song and air it on national TV.
All depends. Yesterday I was told I had 2 options. Do a 60 Extension, 1,900 Baht, on July 24 which will season my monies in the bank or pay them 10,000+ Baht under the table. He did not give a top figure but I've heard Buriram in fact charge 30,000 Baht for an annual Extension.
Pragmatic
I can only say the expression about your head and a brick wall comes to mind. I would have just paid the 500 and got it done. It will cost you that much in fuel to go back again.
Then again I suppose I'm jus one of those guys with no balls!! Also no stress.
Just off topic, I wen and seen the orthopaedic surgeon you recommended and he seems like a nice guy. Unfortunately along with me having no balls he also said I must be a sook as he rated my knee only 2 on a scale of 5 with 5 being the worst. He said a knee replacement would set me back 125,000 at least.
