The PTB are busy implementing their agenda now! After (If) a new parliament is seated, it will be harder for Big Too and his tool Big Joke to implement their anti-foreign policies.

assuming this rumour is actually right ......proposed this week, to be implemented in less than a month ? That timeframe doesn't give me much confidence that all administrative procedures will have been worked out properly. Especially as Songkran falls in the middle ... make it 3 weeks to introduce something new.

No worries. All is well. They are using Election Commision consultants to ensure all goes without a hitch.

The utter sterility of the stupid is truly something to behold. The biggest problem facing the unimaginative automaton is their unwillingness to challenge or even question an orthodoxy that on any analysis has no apparent value.
Reportimg every trimester is a very good case in point. What is achieved by having over 200,000 farang reporting regularly? What value is added to state security, particularly when most of them are over 55, mostly of good character who do little but potter about in retirement, watch movies, swim, play golf or write stupidly on blog sites???
What is achieved by having those who provide accommodation to the 20 odd million annual visitors send details of their patrons to immigration.
What is achieved by forcing retirees married to Thai wives apply every year for an extension until they die, in some cases for up to 30 years?? Why not give PR automatically after five years and payment of a fee of, say, 50,000 baht.
Why bother with re-entry visas?? Why not charge a higher fee for the initial application and be done with it letting residents travel without restriction during the validity of their extension.
They could do so much to modernise but in truth they are simply just too hidebound and blinkered.

Apparently it's all down 'terrorism'. Immigration claim they need to be able track foreigners at the drop of an hat, pure and simple.

The government wants to make it difficult for foreigners to stay under the radar especially who Immigration sees as ‘bad guys’, foreigners who overstay and terrorists.

an excellent post, but them announcing these so called alterations could it be to take away the election results out of the limelight.

It's not only immigration that keep a check on foreigners. My local cops do also. Every year the same police officers comes around and asks if 'farang live here'? He fcuking already knows that as he's been doing it from dot one. He then asks for a photo copy of my photo page. Why the fcuk don't immigration and the local cops team up and maybe detect all those illegals staying here?

    Well said
I have being coming to Thailand for over 13 years, married to a lovely Thai lady , who at times can be a pain in the ass, especially once a month, LOL unlike me who is a walk in the park,
We own two houses, one she got from her parents, and one we build last year, and a modest car, I have always resisted my wife's idea that we sell our house in the US for exactly some of the above stupidity you described, ad some of the other Thai BS,
I love Thailand , I love the people the energy, the adventure ,but I am getting too old for the BS. A few months here are enough for me, The wife ( being married for over 10 years) , as she is getting more and more Americanised is beginning to feel more and more like me. She got a Green card in a couple of years, US citizenship a couple of years later, we want to go some place, we buy a ticket and go, Greece last year, bahamas the year before, Toronto to visit friends and see the Niagara falls.
Who need this BS with extensions to stay, re entry visas, medical insurance that does not cover anything etc.
You are Married to a Thai?own property here? have kids, have invested in this country? What's wrong with a permanent resident visa such as my wife got when first moving to the US?
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

If you were a woman here, you get PR as soon as you're married, I think.
I can understand why they don't wanna be giving healthcare and access to any job to some of these cheap Pattaya sex pests struggling along on a pension.

That's a bit sexist don't you think? You mean if I had a sex change operation I could get PR? Because I would do it if it wasn't for the fact that I would make a hell of an ugly woman.

No need for the trouble and expense of a cut 'n tuck, just claim to identify as a woman. You don't really need to, just pretend. Then when you get your PR you can identify as man again. I think that would be smart.

thailand is a vast bureaucracy - the monthly bill is staggering

but having departments for everything allows numerous empires to be created which will have allegiances and alliances to and with multiple other departments and allow the formation of several basically private armies

any move toward efficiency threatens headcounts and budgets so is fiercely resisted - it would not suprise me if many had their own internal structures to ensure inkpads are correctly filled with the right colour ink
