Does anyone know the rules governing not being able to attend immigration due to sickness?
Does anyone know the rules governing not being able to attend immigration due to sickness?
does anyone know the rules governing the amount of 90day reports and extensions that can be done by AGENTS.
yes i have been there when there are more agents than farangs.and officers dooooooooooooooooooo help them with the paperwork.
so lets see what is goner happen with the income method,it doesnt apply to me,but with the currency rates against most currency's where the bht.is a lot stronger its goner be for some WATCH THIS SPACE.
BIG joke needs to get his thinking cap on.
Don't know if there are specific rules but years back at Suan Phlu they allowed someone with a signed letter giving permission from the person getting the extension along with all the required forms pre signed by applicant.
I suppose it depends on the officer at the time.
When one considers that there have been stories of people overstaying due to being in hospital or jail and getting no leeway whatsoever, if I were you I would do as Nidhogg suggests and ring. Get a name.
But every office has a rule book. And basically all the rules have been translated into English but it seems not for this one. Okay I could phone up and ask a girl in the office the rule, but if she's wrong your in the shit. She won't be. I've had incidents where I've been advised previously by an immigration officer only for them to deny it when I went next time.
I'm not due at immigration for a few months. Would it be possible if a couple of posters were to ask, when they go next time, to see if all the offices say the same?
Do they? Probably, but recall the fuss 2 years ago with border crossing rules: telephoned in and so all up and down the Lao, Cambo, Burma borders, every single crossing had different interpretations (or awareness) of the rules.
I'm just saying..it's not uncommon for officers from desk to desk, office to office, to treat the rules differently. Thus, ring and get a name.
The ambiguity of course is built in to allow "favour' it is so ingrained and depsite all the campaigns I see it as no better or no worse than 30 years ago
Seeing as more than a few immigration offices allow you to apply for a new extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current one and most all the rest allow you to apply when you have 30 days or less left on your current one, I'd say you're gonna need to be really sick to get them to allow someone to apply for you. <- meaning a hospital letter, etc.
I'd agree with other posters call the immigration office and see.
The new TM.7 does say that people who are handicapped or with disabilities don't need to apply in person. BUT I dunno..
The hospital will have someone to sort your immigration stuff.
got to korat immigration 9am.today was the longest time i have ever been there in 10yrs.only 1 other, after all my docs.were checked my officer was a junior with not a lot of experiance,so with a little help by a senior it all went smooth but took over a hour, even when i left there was only 2 farangs doing exts.
the wife went to the office that does the 90day reports and asked if i could now do my reports on line, one said one thing and another said yes once you got the password and another said something completly different.so its bussiness as usual.
Your wife (and the officer she was talking to) got their wires crossed. You can indeed do 90 day reporting online in Korat and you use this website to access the program;
https://extranet.immigration.go.th/f.../TM47Action.do
You can ONLY file a 90 day report online after you've done at least one report in person to get into the data base AND you are within 15 days before down until 7 days BEFORE your actual due date
The thing that the officer was talking about needing a password for is the online TM.30 reporting, <- that's the form that some (not all) immigration offices require foreigners file within 24 hours of getting back home from out of the country. It's the one that hotels guest houses AND individuals can use. It requires a thai national create a user name and they send you a temporary password.
You access that thru here:
https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/
thanks TD.for your reply,i have always been told.as I have never been out of Thailand since 2008 I am not in the system,it was only them that had entered after 2013.
yesterday the officer who we asked about the 90day reporting saw the last entry stamp in my passport was 2008 but he told us go to the 90day reporting office and ask for the password, wife was told no you don't need one,in the past I have tried many times on the immigration web site, extranet but I keep getting the message, get in touch with your local imm.officer.who then tells me I have to do a border run to get a new entry in my passport.
now in korat apart from last yr.the staff have been all changed.as for the TM30 reporting nothing has changed from what details I have been given them the past 10yrs.including the address,tel.no.along with over 35yrs.of marriage to the same one.i will try it again, when due feb.2019.

Todd
The arrival card includes the Visa number if you are using a re-entry permit so why would it be necessary to fill in another form with the same information?
I know you have said "not all require it" but why do any need it?
Cheers
That you have never filed a TM.30 doesn't mean that it wasn't required (seeing as it's been in the immigration laws since about 1979) it just means it wasn't enforced at all. Now it is, and more and more immigration offices are requiring people (some who've been getting extensions from that office for years and year) to file a TM.30 AND fining them for failure to file within 24 hours of coming back into the country and getting back at your home address.
The b/s information you put on your TM.6 arrival card doesn't get entered into ANY data base that I know of. The address immigrations has on you is off your application for an extension OR your 90 day reporting (again TWO separate data bases).
I provided the link to the online TM.30 reporting program so that IF you have a thai significant other (or live at a place owned by a thai) they can make a user name, get the password sent to them and then use the program to file a TM.30 online (meaning you don't have to slog to the immigration office in person to file a TM.30 or update the one you've previously filed).>
Good Luck
