^ Nice one.
Hi Chalky,
Was talking abut the interview at the SB in Bangkok in previous post, yes. Registered Thai name with application fee also at the SB offices, got fingerprinted at that time also. Been there 2 times now.
Had the interview with the guy on the 4th floor. I thought I did okay, but not sure what score he was marking down, if any.
Last trip up there was at the NIA for an interview (in Thai) with 2 girls, who interviewed me and the missus separately. Again, no indication of how you've performed after the interview..
The application process all seemed to be going okay until the British Embassy. The girl assigned for my interview for the Statutory Declaration form to renounce British citizenship hadn't a clue what it was, or what I was talking about. We will try again later.
^You have to announce your 'intention' to renounce other nationality to receive Thai one. Never enacted, as far as I know.
^That's the whole point though, as the guys in this thread have outlined you don't have to. You have to *claim* that you will be, but you never actually get around to doing it. I have an Aussie friend going thru the process now too who'd never dream of giving up his Oz passport, but his angle is being able to make money from having businesses and real-estate in his name here.
^ Ok then makes sense but i'll just stick to splitting my time between here & there.
Don't want or need to do anything in Thailand or Oz but relax.
^Nope. Not if it came down to the wire with a pension waiting, but apparently British law allows it's citizens to renounce nationality in order to obtain other countries nationalities, and then claim it back again.
You don't have to be British to get a pension in the UK as far as I know just have paid enough years of NI regardless of where you come from.
^Ok, cheers. Paid up my NI contributions a couple years already.
what exactly are the benefits of gaining thai nationality.
^ you can rename yourself somchai
And buy a house to leave your Thai wife
5,000 baht might be a lot to you but for me it is very cheap.
I've answered your trolling before and you removed the answers you didn't like on this thread already, why start it all again?
Some other misfits have appeared from the woodwork, with their childish , "you can call yourself Somchai" remarks.
Take a look at P1 and you will see some benefits for myself.
Why are you, and Dilinger, Balddick, etc so interested in something you can't get?
This thread is not to discuss the benefits of Thai Citizenship, but how to get get it.
i had a look, but apart from not needing a visa to stay in thailand, there dont seem to be many advantages. i can buy land through my thai wife, i could open a business through my thia wife etc.etc.etc.Take a look at P1 and you will see some benefits for myself.
each to his own though, and i hope you are successful with your application.

it would seem that the trait most valued by the thai inquisitors is the willingness of the foreigner to jump through hoops, grovel at their feet and show respect for a culture marinated in subservience, inequality and hypocrisy.
