Big changes there since moi last looked at applying for Thai citizenship.
In the past, costs were in the 15 to 20 K USD region and you had to recite the Thai National Anthem. There was a simple written test too if memory serves.

Who told you that the cost was going to be 15 - 20K USD? A lawyer? As far as I am aware that has never been the cost.
Not a lawyer but basically word-of-mouth from posts on the subject - TVF in past years.
I never seriously investigated the project at the time because it appeared the cost/benefit ratio as it were was not in my favor.
Probably should have pursued it now thinking back...
The tax issue too was a concern as those who have been successful in obtaining Thai Citizenship were mostly Farang employed in positions here where their companies paid tax.
Was informed at the start it could take up to 3 years. Fortunately I didn't have to wait that long. Only a year and a bit.
You get a confirmation by phone call and then wait for the Royal Gazette and shortly after you take the oath.
Do a job that you love, and you'll never work again. :)

Good on ya for going through the lengthy process Chalky. Might give it a go myself in 10 years or so time.
Or may feel that moving to Vietnam would be a nicer way to see out me last few remaining decades. :)
